I was so excited about Bare.

I’m so disappointed. I was so excited about doing a shop for Bare. I finally decided to do it, worrying about my skills, but took the leap.
The store didn’t have the specified provider and I had no idea what to do. I emailed the scheduler, say in my car and waited in a high-crime area, then realized they wouldn’t get back to me very soon. I went home.
I heard back the next morning and the scheduler told me to go back and take a photo of the store and submit the report. I did that and when I opened the report, the NAME OF THE PROVIDER had been changed! I have screenshots because I sent it to the scheduler to ask if it must be that exact provider, and since it was a yellow sticky, it had to be exact.
Nonetheless, the newly named provider is not there, either. I submitted the report. There were issues submitting it of course.
Now, they’ve rejected my report and claim the provider is in that location when they are not.
I just want to cry.

I’m trying to deactivate my account with them (I’m sure they’ll never give me work again.) but it requires a survey. Lol

Take some deep breaths and wait a few hours to relax. Before you deactivate try calling BARE to talk with someone about the shop. I haven't done a huge amount of shops for BARE, but they have been reasonable. The forum threads are mostly positive. Most forum members don't recommend burning your bridges. They might end up with a client you would love to shop at some point in time. Good luck.
Oh, I’m not trying to burn any bridges, I’m just so upset because I’ve failed.

And yes, I was super excited because I have read so many good things about them.

cjbstar is giving you good advice. Everything will be okay. Breathe and hold off. Try calling them tomorrow. smiling smiley
I agree with cjbstar, Rhonda. I used to do a lot of shops for Bare, but they lost a big client in my area. I'd do more for them, but the fees are low for the distance I'd have to travel. However, I still do some from time to time. They are fair, and although I had issues with one editor, by and large any comments have been simply to make suggestions for next time. I was paid in full once for a closed location, when I had asked only for partial compensation to cover mileage. I didn't even have to "fight" them on it.

If you can talk to someone at Bare and walk through the situation, as well as send the screen shots, I'm guessing you can work it out with them. If not, I'd still stay active with them in case they get any plum jobs in your area.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
Can anyone help me learn how to check for changes in the shop guidelines after the shop is in progress without opening the guidelines while on the shop? Or should I open them? Most say not to do that.

I bungled one of my my first shops for BARE big time. I felt bad like you. The scheduler called later and said she still needed the shop done and asked if I would do it again. I said yes, even though I would not make any money due to the distance. That turned into a valuable relationship and I ended up doing tons of those shops.
I have had nothing but the highest level of professionalism from BARE. I have dealt with schedulers, their operations manager, a program manager, and one of the Bares on various projects. They are top notch.
@Rhondabryant..of course no shop is worth risking your life over. I have done 4 shops with bare without any issues..I'm very disappointed Bare is engaging in this behavior. If you have the screenshots I agree with everyone else..call them and calmly explain to them what happened. Sometimes you have to choose your battles though. One company and I didn't see eye to eye so I had to terminate our relationship and take the loss..one other one I was about to do the same thing but changed my mind and have multiple shops that went very well. No matter what..If I were you I would avoid the send and cancel money shops..you seem to have very bad luck with them..just so know the send money to a partner ones you probably kept reading about where most of us liked them alot..are no longer being done by bare as far as I know

I am also learning to stay away from high-crime area shops.

I replied to the rejected email and sent the screenshot showing the named service. Do they read those? Does anyone know where I should send it?

Also.... I’m guessing that it is not a normal part of mystery shopping for the guidelines to change after the shop is in progress?
I’m new and still learning so I’m trying to learn from my mistakes, but everything I’m finding seems to indicate that shops are by the guidelines and the guidelines don’t normally change mid-shop or after a shop.

Rhonda,

Before I specifically address BARE, here is my opinion on burning bridges. DO NOT do so when you are emotionally distressed, BUT, after you have cooled down, if you still decide it is the best action--burn 'em baby! I was taught that concept in 1964 and have utilized it in both my business and personal life since that year. Never once have I been remorseful, after carefully weighing all aspects of a situation, cutting the line, but there have been several regrets the action needed to be taken.

As to BARE, I completed a single assignment in 2006. The scheduler sent me a note praising my work, but the editor declined the shop. Being confused, I contacted the company and spoke with a female in shopper relations, who was also confused. Ultimately, the work was accepted and I was paid, but the scathing comments of the editor remained on the Sassie page; I requested, but was denied, a removal. As the words were inflammatory and completely false, I requested my deactivation. A few years later, a different scheduler contacted me concerning a reestablishment of our relationship, but I declined the invitation. Generally speaking, if anyone abuses you once AMD you permit such treatment to continue, they will accommodate your willingness to accept said behavior. Although this is a relatively minor matter in the grand scheme of life, rolling over and taking one becomes habit forming.
I don’t know why there have to be bridges burned. If there’s a mistake, own up to it and move forward.

I was initially upset because I felt I had missed something or performed badly. But, after reading everything again, I realize that this isn’t my mistake. Someone changed the shop guidelines AFTER the shop was begun and AFTER I reported to the scheduler that the intended service provider does not exist there.
I really am not badmouthing them, I’m sure it’s an honest mistake, but I don’t feel like I should take responsibility for someone else’s mistake.

Although I’m new, I’m doing everything possible to do exactly what they ask of me. I can’t do that if they change things after I’ve begun the work.

RhondaBryant, I think this is the post everyone is responding to and urging you not to do anything rash while you are in the "heat of the moment." You seem to be cooling off since that post because you are now questioning "I don’t know why there have to be bridges burned. If there’s a mistake, own up to it and move forward."

That's what we are cautioning. Clearly, there's been a mistake here. No bridges need to be burned.
cjbstar has given sound, sensible advice. Take a breath. I would reach out to BARE in calm manner.
I disagree. YOU did not fail. Bare has sound, reasonable employees. I am sure that this can all be straightened out.

Removed.
Moderator Note:

Forum guidelines state that we not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies. Also, naming the client and MSC may be an ICA violation.

Rhonda, we have all failed somewhere along the line. Do not allow one failure to define you as a shopper. My very first shop for one MSC was rejected because I did not follow the instructions and shopped on the wrong day. Since then, I have performed close to 190 shops for the same MSC successfully. Best wishes to you and don't give up.
So Rhonda, did you call Bare yet? They aren't there on the weekends. I am curious what you are waiting for. The sooner you call the easier it will be to get it resolved and get paid, which in my opinion, you should be.
It's true we have all failed at some point somewhere, but if Rhonda followed the guidelines (which it sounds like she did) and followed the advice of her scheduler on what to do (which she did), SHE did not fail on this one.

I guess my reply didn't post.
I called and spoke with the project manager. She was very nice. She asked me to send the screenshots of the shop guidelines and I did. She later emailed and explained that it was just an example of the company and that the actual company is listed further into the guidelines area. I had no idea that examples would be listed inside guidelines, so I was not prepared and this is my fault.

@Rhondabryant-well that is very confusing, but happy to hear you reached out. I know you probably don't want to, but are they going to allow you to reshop it? If they offer, consider taking it, although you did say it is in a high crime area, so you could tell them you don't feel safe reshopping it. I hope that wouldn't effect future shops. As everyone else has stated most of us have had a very pleasant experience with Bare, they are in my top 5 favorite msc's thus far, and it was a bit jarring to read that they were engaging in the behavior stated in the original thread.
