Potential Fraud Alert--iSecretShop

I just received this message from iSecretShop:

"Jump Yourself to the Front of the Line!

Scams and fraud attempts are now so common, and businesses now rely so completely on accurate data, that they are increasingly demanding all field evaluators be Age and Identify Verified prior to accepting their important assignments. They need to be assured the evaluators are legitimate.

Our innovative new Age and Identity Verification service allows you to stand apart from the masses - promoting yourself as a verified and legitimate contractor to every MSP and Market Research Company on the system. Certain assignments require it, others give preferential treatment to verified users - and in all situations, verified evaluators stand apart from - and above - their unverified peers.

Stay ahead of the industry and at the front of the line. Get Age and Identity Verified today and show businesses you are a professional. Get Verified once (a small, one-time fee applies) - and from then on, every MSP and MRC on the platform will know you are legit."

Then, they ask you to send THEM $9.95 via PayPal and to "verify" your own address and birthdate prior to hitting 'send'. This sounds "illegit" to me. What do you think?

BUt, have any of you paid to have your information verified by you? I can send in a photo ID to have my info verified. Seems like they are just wanting $9.95 from their shoppers...

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
A number of tech sites hubby & I gig on will promote getting background checked & drug tested for a fee so that you'll be more appealing to clients, but we've never had to pay. If a client needs either of these, they've always paid to have us go get it done. That's my 2 cents.
Hey peeps - one of the tech gig'ing sites is FIELDNATION, for the person that asked nicely.
Just to clarify I have.done shops for I secret shop with no issue..it must be the actual end client..this sounds ridicolus to me even if it is legit

Shopping Idaho and Oregon/Idaho border region.
I responded to the notification, "I was told, if you have to pay to secret shop, it is a scam, and to avoid the company."
It is another attempt by iSS to treat shoppers as children. First, they give us stupid badges and treat our profession as a game. Now they ask us to pay them $9.95 for what amounts to nothing more than an another stupid badge.

There are plenty of standard methods to verify ones identity. I am verfied by ID.me for my Veterans status. Credit Karma and similar sites use a very common tool. If a MSC needs proof to better market their shoppers, then the MSCs should invest in such products. A pic of my State Issued ID and one of myself, along with my SSN, is sufficient.

Why the $9.95? My kid does the alcohol/tobacco shops and has been verified by sending in a driver's license.

Shame on iShop. Highly doubt this is client-driven.
