Has anyone ever shopped with this company before? I did a retail shop yesterday and I read all the directions which clearly state that if you are unable to obtain the name of the associate that you should describe them as best as possible. I know certain shops require that you obtain a name but this one did not. The associate did not have a name tag on, did not introduce herself and her name was not on the receipt. I have done a good bit of shops and I decided based on the interaction occurring to not ask for the name. Now the scheduler is emailing me telling me I have to find out the name. I responded with the information above. I advised that the only way that I could think of getting the name was to call and ask who waited on me and if they wanted me to do that I would. This is a very small store, and there were only two employees in the store at the time. I have the other employee's name, she introduced herself so I think the client should be able to figure it out based on the time and my description. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks

Oh dear! Yes, I know this shop; same thing happened to me. The guideines do not ask for the name and I did not ask for the name. The owner of MSC texted me after I submitted the shop and asked if I had the name of the associate. I told him that I did not. He told me that the shop will not be accepted and he adviced me to return the merchandise. After doing this for 15 years, you feel odd for having a shop rejected, especially because you did not get the name of the associate!
I was confused because I did not remember reading in the guidelines that I needed to get the name of the associate. I did not feel that I wanted or had time (and energy) to argue or proof the point. I just returned the merchandise.
Few months later, I re-did the shop and asked the associate for the name (awkward) and shop was accepted. Also, the second shop was scheduled by notorious scheduler Carri Coyle which made me very uneasy about the whole ordeal. The second shop was accepted and I was paid. I had to remind the company to pay me. I would not recommend this company and this scheduler.
You could call the store and flat out ask for the name of the associate. Weird situations call for weird actions. Good luck!

Edited to add that when I did the shop the second time, I did not see anywhere in the guidelines where the name of the associate was required or mentioned. This, I could not check for the first shop when it got rejected as I already submitted it. You are right. I hope your shop gets accepted *sigh*

If you already had one employees name I would have called the store and said "is this Emma?" (Example name) If it was not the first employee she would in all likelihood say "no, this is Marion." Then I pretend to be a batty old lady and say "honey, I think I left my glasses there. Did you find some?" I have had to do that a couple of times.

I actually have no problem doing that. But I wanted the company to tell me that it was okay to do it. I suggested that I would. I think that raises suspicion. I shop for a bunch of companies and I always check to see if they want you to ask for a name, because every shop is different, and this one did not. There is not even anything that could infer you should do that. If they don't pay me I am going to be pissed. I was really excited to do this shop, but the store branch I visited was so bad I could not find any merchandise I even wanted to buy. So I ended up with something super expensive I really don't want. And the store has a ten day return policy so they better not deny me after that date! I suppose I could sell it on ebay. I am going to fight with them. I'm a lawyer in my day job, it's not in the terms of the shop and if t hey want you to do it it must be in the terms. If they amended the terms prior to the shop that's one thing, but they did not. Thanks for your comment. I will keep you updated.
I asked to call the store or go back and the owner told me that is not the option. I returned the merchandise. Yeah I was annoyed but didn’t spend more time on this. I did a reshop few months later. I really hope they pay you because you did follow the guidelines. If all else fails, you could offer a reshop. I still feel salty about this.
I have no problem asking people for names if they don't have a name tag. And if the shop specifically says that I need a NAME (not just description). However, I ONLY ask for a name IF the shop requires a name and they DON'T have a name tag or introduce themselves.

If in the shop instructions, it did not say something along the lines of, "If the associate is not wearing a name tag, you must ask their name," I would say that you would *NOT* have needed to ask. It's awkward.

Finally, I did a shop where I had to evaluate a manager. Managers "walk quickly all through the store." And it's true...I had to figure out a way to run between departments and intercept this manager. And then he was turned so that I could not read his name tag. Even my son and husband who were with me, could not read it properly because it was a very unusual. So I got a very good description. I got an email from the editor about that...it was not very well received lol.
Ugh, I just signed up with them! I got an email from a scheduler listing a lot of the restaurants I enjoy, and I figured, "Why not?"

When you sign up with them, there is a question about outright asking someone's name for every shop. I only remember because I JUST finished the signup/test. I thought, "Oh, but that can't really be the norm." And now people are saying they don't actually list it as a requirement, but expect you to infer that this is a rule. (There was no blatant direction in the "manual", just a weird question in the test.)

Plus, also, a lot of narrative. Hmm.

Their system requires a particular amount of narrative that is often more than even needed, so you end up trying to find a really long way to explain things....
