Movie Measure

Do NOT work for them! They are VERY unprofessional! They have reviews DELETED who criticize them because they don't want the TRUTH to be told! They will scam you out of money and expect you to get the projects done, or you don't get paid. It's ridiculous! Rakesh is rude, arrogant and there are pictures to prove it. This is the WORST company to work for! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

The nerve of them expecting you to actually do the work if they are going to pay you. The work you submit is given to the client and if it's not complete the client won't pay for it. If the client doesn't pay for it, there's no money to pay you. It's the client that is refusing to pay you.

If something comes up and you can't complete the work, oh well. It's the risk you take doing this type of work. Maybe it's not for you.

Unlike Market Force you can't fake the work. You actually have to do it. Why do you think Market Force no longer gets the work any more?

With Disney buying Fox, that's probably 1/3 to 1/2 of the standees that are no longer available now.

I just built a standee for a Fox movie today through MM. What are you talking about?
You did? I haven't heard anything? It's one of the problems with MM, how do you find out if there is work? What movie is it?

As far as Fox, they probably haven't fully integrated it into Disney yet. Does anybody know if they are going to keep Fox as a separate division in Disney, or is the Fox name going to go away and it's just going to be Disney? That would be good if they keep the Fox name around. It might mean there is a chance we would still get those standees.

With the long lead times for movies, everything for this movie would have been planned and sent to the vendors long before the merger with Disney. If Fox gets totally merged into Disney there's a good chance we won't see those standees any more. Disney has a company that does their merchandising and they consider standees merchandising. In 10 years of doing standees, I've never gotten to do a Disney standee. Market Force never ever got them.

No clue right now as to weather Fox standees will stay separate or not, nor what Disnet plans to do with the name.

Both MM and Vision tend to assign kind of at random. MM at least will ask you ahead of time sometimes for a lit of what you can do, but it's hot and miss. Vision is totally random. There is a way to sign up with them, but it's cumbersome as they demand real paper be photographed and sent back to them.
@fallen.angel.2154 . If you think I will allow you to make these statements and not call out your behavior you must be kidding yourself. You signed up. Did one trailer check for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood over the weekend of July 26/27. We told you we would not be paying that until our next pay cycle (given the close proximity to July month end and our inability to process in July), which is end of August. For some reason you failed to understand that or believe us. After launching a tirade of messages and threats we deactivated you. Not because of that, but because we expect all out checkers and installers to be professional given they are ambassadors of us and importantly the client. So, if you think that is unprofessional or rude, I am sorry, but we do not want to work with people that we do not trust or who are a potential liability. And for the record, if we find people manufacture trailer data (and we do see that) we WON'T pay for it even if they claim they visited the theater.
@stormraven73 DM me or send a note into assignments@movie-measure.com . It's for UNDERWATER. Would love to have you. We are also launching that website we discussed where assignments will be visible. We are starting with trailer assignments but will be extending to installs and ads too.

I found this. Sounds like big changes are coming. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

<< A lot of films from Fox hit a standstill once the Disney-Fox merger officially went through. Some got cancelled, others got pushed into development hell one way or another, and some are still left hanging, waiting for their official fate. But a few lucky ones will still be chugging forward, including the latest vehicle for our girl Kristen Stewart. >>
Underwater was shot in 2017 and is just coming out in Jan 2020? Sounds like its a minor movie that is lucky it finally is making it to the screen. So if it's not out till January, why are we doing the standee in August? Most theaters don't like putting standees up more than 90 days out unless it's a big blockbuster.

And earlier this year I had two different AMC theaters they were, we can only have 6 standees. What??? First time I had ever heard that. I still was able to talk them into it.

And then after Regal got bought out by the UK company, they haven't been as standee friendly. The lobbies is almost off limits and they are stuffing them way down the hallways.

Weird. The Regal I was at yesterday let me put it up no problem. Granted, I did have to put it up in the hallway, but the manager let me move a different standee further down the hallway so I could put this one at the front of it. I didn't even realize the movie didn't come out until January.
I expressed an interest in MM. Then some one from MM scheduled me for specific days and trailers at theaters without first contacting me to confirm if, in fact, I was available for those days. This advancde scheduling happened even after I clearly indicated by phone, text, and email that I would be need to contacted first to see if I was available before I could accept any assignment. This mishap could be just growing pains with new employees, but the experience was stressful. Otherwise, MM appeared promising and professional.
1 to 1.5 months. Depends on when they get paid from the studio and can pass the funds through to you.
@StandeeInstaller I am not really sure, but I will say that there is always some (perceived) irrational behavior as two companies come together, whatever the industry. BTW, i love your research!
@shopwatch sorry for the stress that caused. We have been trying an auto assign method as we found that many auditors wanted to go back and do the same locations they had visited. Learning that each week via calls and emails seems inefficient. We did say that you can easily let us know and we will remove your auto assignment for that week. This will improve with the new (ICAP) website that will allow you to request assignments. As per another post, that will be out soon. If you want to be perm removed and just want to write in when you can work, email us so we can identify you and we will work on that. thanks!
@blokensgard @mydevice For trailers we pay monthly - mostly at the end of the month in which the trailer check is performed. There are the odd exception to that (like Once Upon A Time in Hollywood that was too close to our month end processing) but we try to indicate that. For installations I will admit we have to get better. We were paying when the project completes but realize that doesn't work. Hopefully we will have our internal processes established soon so that we can confidently pay out completed work without fear of paying again later in the project. I know that sounds silly (and easy to spot) but please believe me that there have been issues. sad smiley
I haven't yet been paid for some installs that I did a couple of months ago. I'm waiting. I won't do any more until I get paid.
@blokensgard can you PM me with your name or some other reference so I can follow up to find out what the issue is. Thanks
Sorry, they were done 6 weeks ago, but still no payment. I cannot get into any website that gives me any more information but the install date and whether it was completed. Beverly Lokensgard - install date Jul 16, Marcus Rosemount and Marcus Oakdale.
@blokensgard you received an email explaining the situation last night. I also believe we needed your payment instructions (paypal or bank). Hopefully this will resolve the situation. Thanks
Actually, I received the email today at 3:40 pm. I've given them the info they asked for. I also let them know that I have not been paid for July, as the mail I got referenced only the August install. Hopefully this will fix it, as using my phone to enter the info as it is done is really convenient, and I do like doing the installs.

They wanted the standees up for IT:2 as Underwater is a horror movie as well. The trailer was attached to a lot of the IT prints.

As for the AMC theaters...your guess is as good as mine. It may have been only those specific ones as I have been to others that have a lot of standees up. I know Cinemark was trying to have fewer up, or at least fewer in the lobby, as some higher-up thought they looked junky or something.
It was just a simple Flatcard which they don't much care about. Can easily stuff down a hallway, or in the dumpster. Apparently if there were any in my area they gave them to somebody else. I emailed them about it and never even got a reply. Then about 2 weeks after I heard about them got an email, we got one and only one about 50 miles from you. How about if we bonus it and pay you $20?

Yeah, right. It would take 2 hrs and $10 in gas just to drive there and back, With almost 30 theaters in my area, they need to get the person that did the rest of the work to go do that one. Not ask the guy they didn't give any work to. If they would take care of me, I would take care of them and pick stuff like that up. A simple flatcard you do them as a route, 6-7 in an evening. But you screw me out of the work, don't go looking for any favors.

Apparently it's slow enough right now that Vision sent out an email to everybody saying basically, stop bugging us. There is stuff coming.

And they mentioned there is new competition out there, which must be MM. Claim they have the most theaters covered, and yet included a spreadsheet with over 4000 locations they don't have covered. Looking for people to take them. Lot of the smaller theaters that probably never get standees, but some areas didn't look that well covered. Chicago, Denver, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, and Knoxville had a lot of theaters on the list. But if I was to guess, they might have 600-800 covered. Almost all the ones in my area are taken so I'm not going to bother with Vision..

I've had good luck with Vision so far. Never hurts to have another client. You never know when they may have an installer on vacation or something.
Here's an interesting article about trailers, their history, how they are made and their importance in marketing movies. It's why trailer checks are important, even if there is really no money in doing them.

Movie trailers are a cult phenomenon. Just ask Star Wars fans
[www.cnbc.com]

"A tried-and-true traditional trailer is the single strongest piece of marketing material."
Thanks for the article. Been doing trailer checks for 10 years and I often wonder how the information I submit regarding audience reaction serves any purpose. Frankly most audiences sit in silence (generally matinees) or ignore the trailer while they engage in conversation with friends (evening showtimes).

I have sat through a trailer and realized I wasn't sure what the name of the movie was. I appreciate having YouTube clips now to reference.
I have recently started checking for this company, based out of NY. I have had great CS every time I have called. I am new to the MS work so Im excited to see what this is all about.
