Vision is rebranding itself, giving itself a new logo. Not sure what else has changed. In the message they sent out, mentioned new ownership and leadership. Still looking for more info on that.

Really hard to find anything on the recent private equity buyout of Vision Media. This Michael Alvarez who started it in 1986 apparently played in minor league baseball for 3 yrs. It looks like they got a cash infusion in 2016. And then another from a different company in 2018, and then earlier this year he "retired", probably got pushed out.

Not always a waste of time. They can get a lot of work all at once. I have a bunch of theaters on my list and sometimes I have to turn stuff down as I have too much in my plate, so that goes to other people on the lists. Couldn't hurt to contact them.
It really depends on the area. But generally, if all the theaters in an area are taken, you're not ever going to get any work. I originally found out about them in 2010 and signed up. I think they were called Deluxe back then. In searching more about standees, I stumbled on Marketforce. Immediately got some work from Marketforce. Nothing from Deluxe.

So I mentioned them both to my brother and he signed up. He started getting work from Deluxe. I was like, I signed up first, how's he getting work? Apparently he got assigned 3-4 theaters. But why didn't I get those theaters? They were kind of over by him, but I could have just as easily done them.

In the time I was signed up with them I got one standee from a new smaller NGC theater. Never saw anything more from that theater.

Then around 2014-2015 they changed management again and wanted everybody to resign up. Part of that was signing a non-compete agreement. Most people probably never read it, but I was, what am I signing. They wanted you to exclusively work for them and yet you're an IC, not an employee. They can't require that. It wouldn't be legally binding or hold up in a court of law. Besides, are they going to guarantee me work?

So back and for with the manager and he finally said, we're never going to enforce it, how would me know if you did do work for somebody else. Then why did I have to sign it? Since I never got any work, never mind.

So sign up if you can some how figure out how. And if you can some how get some theaters and are good at standees, it's a great gig. They pay $20 for a simple flatcard. They had a standee this year that paid over $100. Most I ever got from Marketforce was $70 and that was with a bonus. Typically 1.5-2 times what Marketforce paid for the exact same standee. But if the theaters in your area are taken, the chances of getting work is slim to none.
I've gotten a lot of work from them actually. You basically have to track down their e-mail on the website and then they will send you the application. Once they do that you can sign up for theaters on the website, though it's a weird process. I'm hoping with the "new direction" they will come up with a more workable site as well.

But, as a back up person, and have been for a couple of months now. I have yet to receive any work. When I contacted them to ask the odds of me getting any work, they told me it really depends on the primary person who has all the theaters in my area. So I basically have to wait for that person be overwhelmed with assignments, or something else come up that they can't get everything done in time. For me, my chances are slim. For you, in the area you live, it seems the chances for someone else who is a back up may have better opportunites. So there are a lot of factors.

That person got lucky once. Just trying to put it out there, that it even if you get in, with the company, as I did, and you are not the primary person for your area theaters, or any theaters, that you are willing to travel to, then there is a good chance that you MAY not see work. Now, if you live in a big city, where the primary person has multiple theaters they are assigned to, and there are multiple standees, that need to be done at once, which I'm assuming was your situation, then, yes, the back up person, would then receive work. In, my case, there are only 5 theaters in my area, out of those 5 only 1 is getting standees on a regular basis. So. that is why I said for you and where you live a person would have better chance, of getting work, versus, me, and where I live.

Anybody else signed up with SeeLevel HX, not that I do any work for them any more. They had an ad check of some sort. From the description I couldn't tell exactly what you were suppose to do other than watch the ads during the preshow. The pay was you were going to get reimbursed for your ticket, up to $10. So probably was going to cost to do it, but you got to stay and watch the movie. So generous of them.

And then they said you couldn't do it if you were also doing the movie intercept program, whatever that is. First I ever heard of SeeLevel HX doing shops at movie theaters.

So are other companies having trouble finding people that want to do the shops because of the low pay? I don't see how SeeLevel HX is going to find anybody if it's going to cost you money to do it. It's how MarketForce finally lost the business. They paid so little people would check a few screens and make the rest up. Who's going to spend hours and hours in a theater for less than minimum wage?

MF does some of their Ad checks like this now. Only they pay you on top of ticket reimbursement. MM has many AD checks too. MF keeps getting steady AD checks, they did lose standees and claim on FB they are branching out in different directions, they took Star Wars trailer checks, after not having any trailer checks all year. Yes, out of a lot of other companies MF is still paying the least amount, but not all work has disappeared from them.
Anybody do the ad check this weekend for Movie Measure?? Good rate of pay for $20.00.
Looks like Certified still does occasion trailer checks for the big studio at the end of the alphabet but lost the other trailer checks to Movie Measure from a big studio at the lower end of the alphabet.

Yes I did for MM. I've done a few for them, and yes they do pay well for Ad checks.
I did three standee construction assignments for Movie-Measure and got zero pay. The assignments were completed back on October 30th. I also applied to do ad checks, but the system didn't match the information for the sample they send you and I never received a reply about getting it corrected so I could do ad checks.
I was told the payment for the standees would be sent "end of November" so no exact date. (Highly unprofessional). On December 2nd, I contacted Kenny, the only human from the company I've actually been able to get a hold of, and asked him to pay me or send proof of payment and he did not, but told me that "accounting told him payment was sent out on the 30th, and that I should be paid in 3-5 business days." The bank account I have connected to Movie-Measure hasn't had any deposits and I contacted them. Not only have they not processed anything, nothing was even attempted to be deposited to my account. I contacted Kenny again today, as it's now the 10th, (well over 3-5 business days) and still no change. He directed me to accounting, who have so far not replied. Has anyone else received any recent issues with payments? I see a lot of complaints but they date the beginning of the year. I'm considering class action if they don't pay me soon. Sure it's only a total of $35, but it's the principle of the fact, as well. And with all the proof of this I have, I at least know I can get not only my money but likely my court fees and lawyer fees paid as well (assuming the state of Michigan doesn't pick it up on my behalf just for the point of it.)

I got all of my money due to me for my first full month with them. In a very timely manner. I thought I was actually overpaid and had to contact accounting in which they sent me a very detailed invoice showing me exactly what I was paid for which assignment. I was given one standee, and was paid for it. I have yet to be paid for 3 AD checks, but that is because they came at end of month, so they should be on next check. I set my payment to be received through paypal. If you complete a job within the last week of the month chances are it will not be included until next paycheck. I too, have spoken with Kenny, several times. I'm not sure what you mean about ad checks not matching.
I have received payment via PayPal for all work at the end of the month with no problems. So far, 3 months with no issues.

You are correct- you should have been issued payment for your 3 successful Parasite standees completed in October. It is not clear to me why you were not paid. I have personally reached out to the accounting team and asked them to investigate this matter and respond to you as soon as possible. Hello MM I have a suggestion:

If your accounting team is responsible for making the payment breakdown to determine our monthly total, shouldn't we get the breakdown before and not after we actually get paid?

So is this new California law AB5 going to impact people doing standees, and trailer checks in CA? I'm sure it's going to affect the MS industry as a whole. Another example of public policy gone wrong.

I believe you also have to fill in your W9 on the website, which you can't do in the app.

You can print, scan, and e mail the W-9 form which I did, and had problems completing via the app. They will gladly accept a scanned version of it.
Anyone else not been paid for December?
