Baffled

I enrolled with Primo Solutions and everything seemed to be OK. I got emails from them offering shops in my area, and I replied-as per the emails- to several but got no response. After the third or fourth email, I went directly to the site to applyThinking I'd have a better chance but got the following message, in complete contradiction with the emails: "(There are no available visits in your area at this time.)" I then went to search outside my area and then got that message: "(You are not eligible for any of the visits in the cities you chose.)" I emailed them, both from my personal email and on the site through the form, but got no response.
Anyone else had that experience? I am baffled!
Also baffled that none responded to this query. What's going on?

Most likely, the emails you received went out to many, many shoppers and you were not the only one to respond. The scheduler simply assigned them to other shoppers, making them unavailable to you - and not visible on the job board.

You wrote your concern at the end of a month, when schedulers are trying to meet deadlines. The least likely time for a new shopper with a company to get selected is at the end of a month. A huge percentage of new shoppers take shops and then never perform them. When deadlines approach, schedulers cannot afford to have any more "flakes."

Schedulers are usually independent contractors like we are and do not get paid for polite "sorry, I can't schedule you" responses. So, don't count on responses when you are not offered a shop. Be courteous and professional. Persistence will pay off.

Primo solutions is a legitimate company. Keep trying - you'll get selected at some point. Try requesting shops both online and through email as soon as they are advertised. When asked for a date that you will perform the shop, choose the soonest possible date.

mrf,
How many MSCs are you signed up with or typically applying for shops with?

I would suggest that it would be well-worth your time to sign up for more companies. You'll be much more likely to find work when you want it. There is a huge list linked on the bottom of this page with 200ish companies. There is a smaller list of the "15 Most Discussed." If you simply sign up for the "most discussed" companies, you will find significantly more work in your area - and a lot more variety. If you really get into mystery shopping, you'll want to sign up with a lot more... I'm with over 100 - maybe as many as 130 or 140.

OK. Makes sense. Do you sign up with each company individually, or is there a central database you can apply to once?
Each company is its own entity, so you have to sign up for each separately. There are a couple of platforms that allow you to sign up for a group of companies in a single fell swoop (iSS and Gigspot). A lot of folks, however, prefer to sign up for the Gigspot companies individually, however, as the platform is less than user-friendly.

mrf,
Also, any day that you do not have as many shops as you would like, I advise that you sign up with 5-10 more MSCs and look at their job boards. That is how many of us got to be too busy to take all of the offered shops.

Emails are automatic and go to everyone, so someone else got job before you...could be due to a more experienced shopper or that they do primary Assisted Livings homes and you don't qualify, many reasons for not getting accepted. Experience and age matter to them, as members above state, join other companies, maybe Primo just isn't for you, but others will be.

I really appreciate all your help and suggestions, MF Johnston. I see a lot of tedious typing in my immediate future... smiling smiley
All that tedium is the sweat equity for this business, if you want it to be a money-making one.
