If you are looking for civility out of this company you are out of luck. They think nothing of sending 15 emails a day to me. I asked them to stop sending all the emails and they ignored me so I changed my E-mail address with them to one that I rarely even use. They think nothing of trying to make me do what is nothing less then Charity work for them with no pay. I did not burn the bridge with this company but they are worthless and ruthless so I should have.
They are actually one of the good companies out there, and your public post blasting them may well have burned that bridge if they can figure out who you are, since a few of them are on this board. I for one welcome the great free meals (in exchange for my observations) as well as the emails alerting me to those meals. Some people feel that they need a few dollars to justify working, I argue that the meal is pay. Agree to disagree I guess.

I live in Omaha Nebraska if that will help them figure out who I am! LOL! I could care not in the slightest if they don't like hearing the truth so much they fire me for it. They can take that "will work for food" stuff somewhere else.
Sobroke,
I think you are missing a lot if you will not write a simple report for groceries, oils changes, tire rotations, hair care, etc. ACL may not do those shops, but the point is the same. It's your choice what you work for. But you ignore the fact that those same things you are bashing ACL for offering ARE of adequate value to others.

As for tons of emails.... you signed up; you can also end the relationship. Most of the shoppers who are as busy as they want to be are getting, and deleting 200+ emails a day. That comes with the territory.

Stated perfectly. I actually don't want any more taxable income, so for me, the shops that are 100% reimburse or close to it for food, oil changes, car washes, etc, etc. are exactly what I am looking for. As I said before, we all shop for different reasons, so no one should be bashing on the zero payment shops, or the shops that are all payment with no reimburse, its up to the shopper to decide.

I do have one issue with this posting... The city name should have been spelled correctly in the title. Alas.

hehehe But, MFJ, Forgo does say so much about a place. Alas.

Sobrokeigot2dothis: Because I have done so many successful shops in the past, I am now able to get "promo" shops and other shops that pay well or have large reimbursements. I just toured a senior living facility as a promo shop that paid $75 and the place was only 16 miles from my house. The thing is, if you only do a few small shops for them and then either don't do them well, stop doing their shops (or maybe bash the MSC on an open forum), you will never get a chance to see the good shops.

And to the OP, Tracy, the job board is a better place to post your shops.

Have a great day!
Forgo? Will they notice the error in the Subject line?

As for emails, I use filters to place emails in whatever folder I want them in. Using a different email address isn't necessary. You can also mark them as Spam, then your provider will block them for you.

I do many many shops for ACL, and it is one of my favorite MSCs that I work with. They pay promptly, my scheduler is responsive, and there are always shops to do. They have great fine dining shops I enjoy for special occasion, and hotel shops that covered most of the hotel stays for my out of state trip. So I suggest being careful before you blast a well-known and reputable company.
Thanks, but I am going to forgo this shop in Fargo because an hour away is as far as I go. This may be a foregone conclusion as I live in the East.

Thats fine if you like doing Charity work for non charities.

I completed a single assignment for ACL last year, for which I was promptly paid, but when I declined a few other offers that, to me, would not have been profitable, they exercised their prerogative to deactivate my account. I was especially impressed by the thoroughness of the shop's instructions.

On a separate, but related note, I extend my compliments to Kimmie for a concise and wry comment; it was my first laugh of the day.
I won't say ACL is my favorite MSC or even that I do a LOT of shops for them, but they have several high-end dining shops that I love. There is no pay, but the reimbursement is $200-$250, sometimes more. Typically, I either take a date or a family member, and, since I would be going to a restaurant anyway, I don't consider the hour and a half spent at the restaurant working. I relax and enjoy it. Most of the information I'm required to capture is simple and quick. I rarely tell my date or family member it's a mystery shop. I can usually knock out one of ACL's dining shop reports in an hour. Even the worst ACL report doesn't take more than 90 minutes. Since this is money I would spend anyway, and since it is AFTER-TAX dollars, it means by doing the mystery shop at the high-end restaurant, I've saved myself $300+ (for money I would have spent anyway) for writing a report that took me an hour or hour and a half. That's good money.
@Sobrokeigot2dothis
I have to ask... You have posted a total of seven times on this forum. Your posts consist exclusively of knocking two MSC's and slamming dining shops. What do you like about mystery shopping? What types of shops do you do that you find worthwhile? And why?

I enjoy mystery shopping a lot better then I do my real job. Problem is my real job pays enough to keep a roof over my head and mystery shopping don't pay nothing but kibbles and bits. Now I cant make enough to pay the mortgage mystery shopping but I can make enough to pay the electric and the cable bill. Of course if I work for mystery shopping companies that are greedy that only let me have the free meal then I am lying to myself because if I am not getting paid any money then what I am doing is not WORK. The point of work is to make money. If you are not making money then what you are doing is playing.

Wow, even when you are asked a question that would almost require you to make a positive post you find a way to make more then 1/2 of it super negative.

Wow. You sound really angry about something. If you like mystery shopping better than your real job, I am sure you are a ray of sunshine to your real job coworkers. And you are probably complaining at your real job that you did not get a promotion, or that management sucks, you are not being treated fairly, etc. Am I close?

Nope. You don't keep a job long enough to be a real job if you do stuff like that.

Tracy never returned to see what mess transpired, all because of Forgo and a misplaced job posting!
Perhaps she did and doesn't have the words....lol. Anyway, the last half of this thread really doesn't have anything to do with her original post. And hopefully by now she has found a shopper in Fargo for her shop.

I totally agree that dining shops generally do not help to pay the the rent. I shop to earn money, too. Unless I specifically want to eat out, I don't shop restaurants. (Even then, if I want to eat out, I prefer to simply eat out and enjoy the experience.) Still, that does not mean that such shops are not very worthwhile for other folks. To each their own.

You state that mystery shopping does not pay much. While I agree you won't get wealthy doing it, you can make a pretty good chunk of change. It takes some work and some know-how, but there is money to be made in this industry. A number of folks on this board shop for a living. I don't do that, but I do supplement my full time income by $2,000/mo. (more if I feel ambitious, less if I feel tired). From the way you present yourself, I'm guessing that you are not making that much - yet.

If you look to where there is good instead of where things "suck," you'll find a lot of folks sharing very good ideas on this board and likely find ways to increase your earnings.

ACL is not "making" any of us do anything. I chose to not apply for many of their postings because they are reimbursement only. I have yet to see ones that pay nothing.

Reimbursement only shops actually do pay us money. Many of us that do them were most likely going to dine out somewhere. The reimbursement is not taxable income. The reimbursement goes back in our pockets.

When I was unemployed, every penny of income I generated was supposed to be reported. The system then deducts the extra income from your benefits. Reimbursement only shops would have greatly benefited me. People on Social Security, working part time, also need to limit additional income.

With the correct perspective, any of us could perform several reimbursement only shops per month and benefit from it.
