Food Court Shop - Marketforce

I did one of the famous burger shops at a food court location. There isn’t a dining area, bathroom or seating anywhere near this location. I waited my six minutes for the food, took it to my car, evaluated the burger and submitted the report. Later I found it was invalid due to not staying on location fifteen minutes.

I sent an email to the help desk. The reply was nice but the answer blew my mind. The help desk said “generally there is seating somewhere near the restaurant so it will remain invalid, sorry this one didn’t work out for you”.

Ummm, generally? Well this one was where there absolutely is no seating and in fact my car was the closest thing to a seat that I could find.

I hate to think what would happen if I made general comments or general observations during shops.

I also wonder what other shoppers are entering when they shop this location....

Food courts always have seating's, that's the purpose of going to a food court and eating...not saying you didn't go to one in a million without tables/chairs, but it does seem weird.the client would want this, as the owner/client should know it's property. Would be interesting to find out what other shoppers do in this situation.

I, too, wonder what the other shoppers have mentioned.

I consistently get asked to do a drive-thru or dine-in at a specific ff place that offers neither. They have carry out only, no restroom, zero seating, a lobby that's crowded if 5 people are at the counter. I keep e-mailing the scheduler that the place does not have a drive-thru or dine in.

But shoppers keep shopping....and the assignment keeps reappearing.

I had one once where the business had gone out of business. I called the number provided, and it was a different business. The person said the other business had been gone 2 years. I e-mailed the scheduler. That job kept reappearing for about 6 months. I always wonder what the other shoppers were reporting, LOL!!!

I should clarify that this is not mall food court. It is in our office building which has walk up restaraunts. We have Five Guys, Starbucks etc. We take the elevator to the dining floor and it is a wide open area of places to choose from. There is no seating as they don’t want to crowd the area with tables and chairs.

Same burger joint. Phone in. The place doesnt answer 3 separate calls. Like an idiot, I go anyway. The place was so loud I could not hear the cashier. She could not hear me, either. She had to ask me to repeat my order. ( all mentioned in the report). The shop was invalidated. I was sick over it. Oh, well. Carry on.
JASFLAMT - Oh, I missed that. Thanks for clarifying. If I couldn't get through on the phone, then I definitely would not have gone to the store.

Hmm! Wouldn’t the restaurant company want to know that you couldn’t get through to the restaurant on the phone? It sounds to me like you provided valuable customer service information. You likely weren’t the only customer who couldn’t get through that day. Surely we’re not expected to only survey the successful interactions.
I just now spoke with my scheduler. She said they said I did not follow the correct scenario. Yes...I would think they would want to know what I encountered. I did feel I supplied them with valuable information. Just going to brush it off. Not much else to do. Oh, and the scheduler could not tell me what I SHOULD have done.
I would have made sure that my comments clearly covered the reason you could not eat there. When the time is less than 15 minutes, they ask why. For example, their phone and internet scenarios always ask why I did not spend 15 minutes there. I comment that I did not stay, I took the order to go: the guidelines allow this.

If the guidelines for you shop require staying 15 minutes, I guess that previous shoppers reported 15 minutes if the survey did not allow them to explain otherwise.

It's been awhile since I did the phone shop. I thought the shop instructions said what to do if there was no answer ?
Most likely the guidelines state what to do, if no answer. I've done another of their fast casuals, phone ahead. Instructions are clear, call three times, spaced apart, if no answer, do not go in. Report as such, and making a whopping $3. As the no answer attempts get reported, the client is advised.
I've had two invalidated for missing one minor item (ie photo did not contain drink cup). I think they're just trying to get out of paying shoppers. I've done many shops for them before this with no issues. I'm done with them.
Sorry about your shops being invalidated, but if they ask for certain items in a photo, they expect the required items in the photo. If they are not, then they have the right to invalidate the shop. I find their reporting system to be very rigid for the most part. I make sure I follow all their shop instructions to the 'T.'

I've had only one shop invalidated by them and it was a mistake by me with answering a question. I've learned and make sure I do it correctly.
I'm pretty sure with the phone shops, the guidelines say not to go to the store to place your order. If what I remember is correct (It's been a while since I did a phone shop for this client), I think you are supposed to note the times that you placed each call (they have to be at least 5 minutes apart) and enter that information in the report. The rest of the report should automatically become "Not applicable". I don't remember if you'd still be paid the shop fee (just not any reimbursement since you aren't purchasing anything), or if they'd change it to the $3 "closed location" shop fee.
I want to work where you do! That sounds awesome. All we have is vending machines. Sandwiches in them don't look real appetizing. sad smiley

I've worked with MF for over 10 years and I've done countless fast food shops. I've only had one invalidated. And there was definitely a logical explanation for the invalidation - I shopped the wrong location. Most MF fast food guidelines are very specific and need to be followed exactly. I see a lot of posts on the forum from shoppers whose shops were invalidated because they missed something specifically required by or prohibited by the guidelines - like asking for "no ice" or taking a photograph with the entire meal WITHOUT the drink or ordering an extra item after being told you can order only an entree, side and drink.
I've been with them since they were Shop-n-Chek (early 2000s). I have had 2 shops invalidated in that time, both my fault. There was another time that they had an issue with a shop (they were wrong and I was right) that I went round and round with them (politely) about and they finally paid me for it (after 20+ emails). LOL.

The drink cup of water is always required in the photo. smiling smiley

I've done over 2,000 fast food shops/ fast casual and dining shops and none were ever invalidated. The key is to follow the guidelines 100%. smiling smiley
I agree. Marketforce is pretty good as long as you follow the guidelines. I've only had two shops invalidated, and it was my fault, due to mixing up two pictures between the reports.

I ordered a combo at the roast beef place and the cashier gave me my sandwich & fries. I said "where's my drink?" and she said I didn't order one. I said "well doesn't it come with the combo?" Cashier says yes. I said I ordered a combo and I want my drink. Cashier tries to charge me separately for a drink, making the total twice as much what a combo would have cost. I refused to pay the extra and requested to pay the combo price (cause I only brought enough cash for the reimbursement). Cashier says she couldn't edit it because she already rang it up, and if I wanted a drink I would have to pay extra for it. I left without the drink and MF rejected the shop.

So, do you contact them again and did they pay you?

If you check the guidelines, they cover this situation. If the required entree does not come in a combo, you still order the side and drink. The MSC will reimburse the amount spent even if beyond the posted maximum. You have to ask them m, and it can take an extra pay cycle for the overage portion to be paid out.

Now, if as a shopper you did not pay attention and confirm that an available combo was properly entered and charged, the MSC will consider that an invalid shop. Remember, you can ask them to repeat your order if they forget. If there is a POS screen, there is no excuse for not noticing.

That's the point I would have asked to speak with a manager. I certainly would have refused to pay extra and would have demanded that they cancel the previous order and ring it up properly as a combo. That's just ridiculous.
