Secret Shopper Show

Have you guys seen the mystery shopper tv show on Netflix? It’s called Mary Portas Secret Shopper. It’s pretty different from what we do, but it’s still fun to watch.

Never heard of it. I actually don't have Netflix.

I do watch Mystery Diners on Food Network. They do serious compliance audits.
I'm watching the first episode now. Man, this couple that owns the shop is like a caricature of English stereotypes.
This show really isn't anything about what we do. The name is the only thing we appear to share.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
This is interesting. It gives some insight into the possibility of turning some basic secret shopper skills into a consulting business. For some businesses, it makes more sense to get a snapshot from one person with experience rather than anonymous shoppers coming in on a monthly basis. I would imagine that is one way to set up a mystery shopping program as well.

In the show, she takes on clients who cannot afford her but there are plenty of stores and restaurants with a small number of locations that have money to invest.

I had someone actually ask me about doing something like this for a charity thrift store. Not for pay, of course.
The Josie Marcus Mystery Shopper series (written by Elaine Viets) is a lot of fun. Josie does mystery shops, and solves mysteries in her spare time. They're a little dated...the earliest books in the series were written so long ago Josie has to hand write her reports!

Happiness is not a goal; it is a by-product. Eleanor Roosevelt
I have read some if those stories.
