Watch out for Certified (MarketForce) changing pay rates for assignments AFTER you complete them

I just completed a standee assignment (relating to a popular children's movie) for Certified Field Associates (MFI) yesterday for a quoted rate of $30. I logon to their website today to find that my pay for the assignment has been reduced to $27. I called them up and the lady on the other end of the line said she would contact the "project manager" about the issue who would then email me, so it still isn't guaranteed that I will be getting paid $30.

I think this is (excuse my language) @#$%& ridiculous that they would LOWER THE PAY on an assignment AFTER I completed it.

Thankfully, I have a saved PDF of the assignment page quoting me $30 so if they try to conjure up some bs saying I will only be paid $27 I will email it back to them.

Everyone who has done this assignment (and other CFA assignments), make sure to call Market Force and make sure you are getting paid the correct amount! The CFA number is 1-800-320-1290.

This is a major breach of trust and I don't know if I will ever do an assignment with them again.

Let us know if the problem is remedied. If you have it in writing that you were working for the agreed $30, this should be quickly remedied. I have had similar issues happen with other MSC's and they have always been resolved with an email or phone call. In all likelihood, the person with whom you spoke did not have the authority to fix the payment issue.

As for never working for them again, that, of course, is your call. I do suggest keeping in mind that MarketForce is run by things called "humans," which are prone to error. The integrity of an MSC is not measured by whether or not errors occur, but how they are handled. If I refused to work for any MSC which ever made a $3 error, I'd not be shopping at all.

Good luck!

Yeah, you are right. If they can fix the issue, I would gladly give them another chance. I was just upset because it feels like they were trying to pull a fast one on me, and hoping that I wouldn't notice come payday. Being that this was my second project with them, I was already leery about whether they would pay at all.

Still, general FYI, if you did a project with them, please double check and make sure you are being paid the correct amount.
It is very rare for an MSC to actually be trying to pull a "fast one" on a shopper. MarketForce, for instance, is a HUGE company. They don't need your $3. The time they spend correcting the error will cost them well more than $3. If they were doing this intentionally, the PR would cost them dearly. Such mistakes are 99.99% accidental.

There are exactly two MSC's of which I am wary. I'll shop for one. I won't even sign up for the other. With both, I am not convinced that they are trying to rip shoppers off. Rather, I strongly suspect they have organizational and/or personnel issues that get in the way of operating efficiently and get payments to shoppers. (Of course, these two have enough "issues" that I can't rule out malfeasance.)

Sometimes we just need to vent.

Here is a safe place for that!

I've been shopping for Marketforce (but not that portal) for 10 years. There have been changes I do NOT like (we used to be able to correct reports), but all in all, they have been more than fair to me over the years.

I have had pay issues, and they ended up sending the funds in the following pay cycle.

Good luck.

(And it's ALWAYS a good idea to check every fee with EVERY MSC!!! And I've found, in particular, if the scheduler says "Oh, yes, we'll pay that bonus. Go ahead and confirm the shop and I'll change the pay later." LOL!!! Double and TRIPLE CHECK for that followup!)
I had the same thing happen! didn't know this is a thing but next time if it happens. I will complain now but I usually just am thanking for a free meal but good to know! I initially had issue with MF payments but that has been resolved. I just wait for their good shops now smiling smiley One of their fast food clients food leaves alot to be desired. However recently I did preform 2 fastfood shops that were really good. Pay is reliable now I get DD.
I've had that happen a few times with different MSC's. An excellent recommendation made from someone on this board was to always get offers in writing and save them (like you did). On the rare occasions I've had an issue I send a copy of the offer, politely explaining the inconsistency. So far the mistakes have been quickly corrected, usually with an apology for the oversite.
I called them out and was dropped for unprofessionalism. They were refusing to pay me for a shop so the photos I took were still mine. The shop was rejected so they should not have any claim on my work. RIGHT. So, I should be able to post my PHOTOs anyplace. After telling them that I was sending my work product to the client, they decided to pay me. VERY SHADY.
