Shops in General - Gas

Would't be nice if the guys wanting us to shop for them saw the gas prices rising? Some of us who are more skilled than others will pass these shops to others less skilled probably over a couple of bucks per shop, or maybe over 1 buck. The gas tank has to be fed....LOL!!!!

My gas tank has an unstopable appetite, always needs filling. The Smart car is looking better day by day. Gas near me is $3.27, in L.A. and growing, this might make 2011 not such a great year.

LOL! Soon we will be in danger of losing our cover. IE: "Okay staff, be on your toes! There is an electric car pulling up....it must be a MS!"
Irene, I wish gas was that price here! We're currently paying $1.22/L = $4.88/G. Makes $10-$12 jobs where driving is involved seem very unappealing.
The Smart car is growing here, see them all the time for city driving...not electric, that's next.

I don't trust those tiny Smart cars for winter driving. We sometimes get so much snow that these little cars are completely buried.

Also, with so many people driving vans, SUVs and mini-tanks (i.e. Hummers), I'd be scared that, if I were in an accident, the vehicles behind me would run right over a little Smart car and I'd be pulverized. No Smart car for me! lol

Now, when the powers that be come up with an electric mini-van, I'm in!

Oh, and gas went up again. We're paying $1.27/L = $5.08/G this morning. Ouchie!
I think the Smart car is more suited for L.A. weather (although it did snow lightly in some parts of L.A. last week). We also have plenty of bio-diesel, hybrid and fully electric cars on the road here.

I looked into getting an all-electric mini-Cooper last year. The lease was $800 month. Mystery shopping will not be the financier of the electric car, as there is no particular savings from using one yet, nor enough income from the jobs.

Those who are driving the cars do so at a greater personal expense to feel better about lowering their carbon footprint and our reliance on foreign fuel.
There are also big kinks still to work out. Electricity is not free, even if you erected your own solar panels to collect it. Purchasing electricity from the power plants is not cheap, nor is it particularly clean or environmentally friendly in a whole lot of cases. We have a hybrid in the household that was bought during a period when gas prices were down so the car was lingering on the lot. I have gotten mileage on it as high as 63mpg, but with the 10% ethanol I am lucky to get 45mpg. Of course I can no longer get gas without ethanol, but frankly mileage with ethanol is reduced a whole lot more than 10% compared to straight gas. I am hoping for a good hybrid pickup when I need to replace my current pickup. I need a truck to haul hay and feed and I certainly feel safer in a big vehicle than in a little one.
Safety is the issue. When doing the Smart Car (made by Mercedes), not electric, the mileage was about 44 miles city driving. I was told the wealthy Bev. Hills woman have this as their new toy, meeting for lunch, there all driving the Smart car. They of course have other cars. The price was $13,700, I would love one, but only for city driving, never freeway, too many trucks up here hauling the grapevine. I do many shops that don't require freeway, but am not trading in my car at this point.

If purchasing, plug-in electric vehicles could entitle the taxpayer to a credit, with the amount of the credit determined by the kwh of the battery. The offset isn't enough to tempt me. My neighbors have both an electric mini Cooper and a smart car. The Smart is nothing more than an enclosed golf cart. Kind of fun to ride around in, but I sure felt vulnerable.
The one I drove was made of steel (very heavy) and felt like a sports car inside, very comfy, and there was a small trunk holding maybe two grocery bags, it was a V3. I'm NOT talking about the electric car. This is strickly for city driving and a smart move (excuse the (pun).

I ran this by Sarah Palin and was told that six Alaskan Huskies could pull one of those bad boys! Don't bother charging it,
