BBQ Shop for ACL

So today I foolishly signed up to do a bbq shop for ACL. It was a simple lunch shop, which I've done before for the same bbq chain. I did not look at the questionnaire until today. It had 19 sections!! I've spent two hours of my life for a $30 lunch shop an I'm still not done. They asked the same questions basically twice. Several sections required 8-10 sentences. I am so pi$$ed! I will never do this shop again. I've done high-end upscale restaurant and hotel shops that didn't have this much crap to write up. I love ACL usually, but I have my limits. Especially for no extra pay.

I love BBQ so much that I would spend 2 hours on a report happily.

It's the six hours drive time that makes it a "no can do" for me!

Always look at the questionnaire before taking one of their shops, especially if there's no payment involved.
That atypical ACL report was client demand. Normal ACL reports are much simpler! So, ignore that client, not ACL, would be my suggestion. Or, wait for the carryout visit.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I get frustrated with ACL too. Just recently I had an offer from them to travel 220 miles round trip to pick up three remote self-storage shops. The total fee and bonuses would not have covered even my gasoline.....I went back and forth with the scheduler a few times and patiently explained the travel distance. I was told that , "...sorry, Charlie." A local storage shop was also promised. That offer got rescinded because I wouldn't 'take' the remote shops......sheesh....

I don't understand what seems to me to be the high level of your frustration. They offered you a deal with a sweetener thrown in, you did not like the deal so you made a counter offer that they did not like. This happens. Neither of you liked the others deal. You are not required to accept their offer and they are not required to accept your counter offer. Time to move on. Yes, you did waste your time on this. This is how haggling works. Sometimes you lose.

ACL reports are the worst, they ask the same question repeatedly, I'll only do the high end ones now.
Sandyf - perhaps you don't understand the point of my post....They promised me the local job and then rescinded it...THAT was the problem...They never tied the local job to the remote jobs....and, for that matter, they 'implied' (I know, that is part of the 'haggling'), that they really needed the jobs done and would pay my travel...now, they can map my home address and compute the travel distance pretty easily...I think they were just fishing and landed another fish...no problem there, but it is FRUSTRATING to be led down a primrose path, so to speak.

What I understood from your post was you were more than frustrated. I might describe it as it sounded pissed to me. Frustration I understand. Your post made it sound as though they offered the local job as a sweetener to the deal. If that was the case then they promised it as an incentive to do the other far away jobs. Since that did not pan out you did not get the sweetener. I guess I misunderstood that the offer of the local job was a stand alone offer not connected to you taking the other jobs. If so I agree that was unethical.

If memory serves me correctly, sometimes you cannot see all the sections in the questionnaire link.

I think their self-storage shop was like this. You could click the survey before accepting, but once you take it and you get to access the actual survey, you see there are these "compressed" areas that were "hidden" from the "free" survey sample. You have to push like that "+" symbol and BOOM, the section explodes with like 10 other questions or what not that weren't in the viewable survey.

That made me upset. I felt duped. It was like that for several sections if memory serves me correctly. So, the final/actual questionnaire was significantly longer than what you're led to believe.

eta: I dno't think that's the case with all their survey forms. But, I think the self-storage one was like that.
