Definitely agree with Susan L.! When I returned to MSing after a hiatus, Confidential Consumer took a risk (IMHO—I hadn’t done a substantial narrative in a mystery shop context for over 8 years) in selecting me for an upscale lunch assignment. I was so nervous! Perhaps as a result of my anxiety, though, I was incredibly meticulous, as I wanted to make sure my report was flawless. Since then, I have completed other bar/restaurant shops for them, and they were outstanding. I’m just so sad that I have to wait out the rotation period to do those shops again!
Additionally (since I know these things will inevitably be asked), I think the pay is incredibly fair for what is asked of you on reports. If you’re doing a dining shop with Confidential Consumer, these are mostly paid in reimbursement; there is additional pay, but if you want to feel as if you’ve made easy cash, you probably won’t find it here. Rather, these are shops offering higher-end/upscale bar visits, lunches, and dinners with clients who seek detailed feedback as to whether they are meeting specific quality standards in terms of facilities, food and hospitality.
I’m not trying to talk anyone out of working with Confidential Consumer—unless, of course, we’re both eligible for the same shop ???? , LOL— I just wanted to describe the types of shops I’ve completed with them. I happen to love these shops, but as I think I’ve posted elsewhere, I know that reimbursement-type dining shops tend to be controversial among some.
Oh, and I should add that since my MSing hiatus had been for so long, I pretty much started over from scratch with my profiles, schedulers, companies—everything. I have found that one of Confidential Consumer’s primary schedulers is an absolute delight. She is tremendously responsive and friendly.
