I've spoken with Judy I. She's real. She's an independent scheduler who helps a number of different MSC's. That email looks very real.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
If you are unsure you should always go to the actual company website and see if it's listed. If it's not just email a scheduler.
Anyone who has been shopping for 3 years should know a scam by now. Actually you should know a scam if you have been shopping for 3 weeks.
If you are unsure, you should never click a link within an email instead see if you can go to the actual website.
I've been shopping for years, and I fell for it. I feel very stupid. But at least I only did one shop for them, so they only got $200 out of me. I should have seen the multiple warning signs, but they just didn't register. Ah well.

Complete ICA violation then a long time member quotes it? SMH
There is a similar scam on-going using our name. Actually they separate the name while our legal name is ServiceSense without a space. The emails come from a @somethinguntraceable; not @servicesense.com. They also use burner cell phones; untraceable. They use several different people's names claiming to be representative's of ours. They aren't. We've put a scam alert pop-up on our website about this. The alert includes a link to the Federal Trade Commission describing how these type of scams work. We encourage anyone that is solicited for any shopping to be certain to visit the company's website that is offering. We also welcome calls to our 800# (Available on our website) to respond to inquiries about anything any shopper (or non-shopper) wants to know about any offer from anyone using our name. We've reported this several times to several different government 'authorities' with basically the same answer; these people are untraceable. This type of activity is, IMO, a scourge on our industry and very discouraging. Just my 2cents.

SCAM!!! I fell for it and purchased TWO!!! Then, when the survey was a feedback form from CVS AND it asked for the (scratch off) PIN NUMBERS, I demurred (thank Goddess!). DO NOT SHOP!!!

I've been shopping for 15+ years, and fell for it! Luckily, as I did not supply the pin nos., I still can spend the cards (on eBay).

I live by this motto " If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is".

I once listed a fridge for sale on CL. I got a response immediately. I want it, I'll send you a money order and arrange pick up". I knew right away, by the persons English/grammar they were trying to scam me. Long story short, they sent western union money orders. they wanted me to cash them and then send them the remainder of the money in a money order. Their excuse was their assistant made the money orders for too much. My wife is a law enforcement. I had them fed ex the money orders to her station. LOL. They didn't even know where they were sending them. They came fed ex from the UK. I looked on Western Unions website and saw those money orders were previously used. Its amazing how real they looked. After I didn't do what "he" wanted, he texted me. The texts only stopped after I told him I contacted the FBI. I do wonder how many people fell for it.
If this actually came from Judy Inboden, it is legit.

Judy is legit. She has scheduled for my company for many years. It does not look like her post is copied or fake.

And yet another poster quotes it again.

Ridiculous
This one is actually not SPAM. It is from me and I recruit for Buckalew Hospitality. Let me know why you thought it was spam. Judy

Most of us realize that, Judy. I don't know what that forum member was thinking. If someone were trying to scam a shopper, it wouldn't be for $50, LOL. And it's a major ICA violation and against forum rules (as SCM pointed out) for them to post your email for everyone to see.
But the original poster thought it was a scam, and he was performing a public service by posting it. That's why I posted it as a quote. I have now edited out the original e-mail, and hope others do, too.

Glad the owner/schedulers chimed in.
A good way to check is to check the html-- search for things such as http which will show links; If a link is from anything other than your email provider oir kss, delete.
>>>1. Hit reply and see what email address the message came from and what email the reply will be sent to. <<< No need to even hit reply, just hover over the email address link, it should reveal the real return address.
When in doubt:..here are some things I have done:
1. Look up the shop company that the email is claiming to be on the legitimate MSPA site. [mspa-americas.org] (this is REAL site address, because there is ALSO a scam website impersonating the REAL MSPA.

2. From the MSPA site Click on the link for the company.

3. Look at the shop postings on their site to see if the shop the email is advertising is listed.

4. Contact the company from “their site” and send them the email you received to confirm if the opportunity is real or a scam?

****5. If you've never shopped for a specific company before then its ALWAYS a good habit to get into lookup & research MS companies on the MSPA site, whether you are an experienced or inexperienced Shopper! The truly legitimate co’s will be members. Also, utilizing this forum for vetting shop companies is a great resource too! smiling smiley

This discussion was so timely as I had just replied to the email. I felt confident because two known MSCs were mentioned so I let down my guard and didn't do any of my normal checks. I definitely should have known much better. They just sent me a follow up email today!
Actually, there are many reputable mystery shopping companies which are not members of MSPA. MSPA is a trade and lobbying organization which charges its members dues. On the other hand, looking at this Forum is a great idea, and likewise so is making sure that email addresses are not cleve impersonations.
