ACL in California?

Hello from Newbie MS in California!

I was reading postings from the forum and learned that ACL has great restaurants, so I signed up yesterday with writing narratives on my application. I receive an email from ACL saying they have no current opportunities that are available for my area. My application was submitted but I didn't even receive the login ID.
Is this a normal ACL application process? Do I just have to wait?

I signed up long ago and do not remember how it worked but make sure you were using the correct url to sign up with them. There are lots of scams out there. Scroll down to the official list of companies below and use a link from there to make sure. They generally have jobs all over California in populated areas. If you are in a far remote corner of the state perhaps they do not have jobs.
Just did a quick search for CA. They have tons of shops. What part of CA are you in? I can look for you.
Aw, that's strange, but I suppose if you are in a remote part of the state. Heck, I'm out int he freakin' boonies and there are an ample amount of chain shops from ACL. You don't have to but, if you give me your zip I can check with my login & let you know if I see any shops.
A newbie may not be seeing most of the restaurant shops until they have more experience with ff, for instance.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
WM - Oh, you're right...forgot! But surely the scheduler has a quick casual steak shop, or a yoga studio that needs reviewing. I see these shops advertised on Craig's List, too.
Since the OP didn’t even receive a login ID, perhaps the sample narrative in the application didn’t meet their minimum standards. If you post your narrative here, I’m sure we can provide some feedback, if needed. Or if you prefer PM me. Remember, the narrative needs to be objective with no personal opinions.
Or you didn't score high enough on the test. Contact someone there and ask for a manual review.
My money's on LOCATION, not adequate writing skills. Her post demonstrates that she is more than capable of conveying her thoughts. S'ok.....in about 5 more days, she'll probably see the shops that are an hour and a half away with a $30 bonus (for soft serve ice milk).
Monk - how will she see any shops in 5 days when she didn’t even receive her login ID?

Also unless she lives in the middle of Death Valley, ACL has many shops throughout California.

This sounds very strange to me. Think it's got something to do with the Ca. IC vs. Employee thing going on?
kenasch Perhaps her application will be approved and she'll see something Monday. I am in a remote area and I see CL posts looking for evaluators. It's so bad they have to advertise on CL? I've had profiles take a few days to be approved before I got my login.

Yoga shops?! Sign me up! I have never seen one in my part of CA though.
I found Norton-Norris on a craigslist posting. They are a great company! Fair pay for the time, relatively fast payment (IIRC, 30-45 days after shop completed). I recalled being absolutely SHOCKED to see a MS listing on craigslist!

Oh wow. Thank you so much for all your replies!
It was not the location (living in Los Angeles) but my narrative failed to pass. sad smiley
I emailed ACL that I travel other states and foreign countries so open to other areas and I receive an email saying my narrative was insufficient. I sent it again with longer objective narrative and waiting for response now. Thank you all so much!
Iris99 I am not sure if you are just typing fast for the forum or if the above post is your normal way of saying things. I would recommend that you check your narrative for not only objectivity but also make sure you are using the right tense and are typing in full sentences which are grammatically correct.
Actually, if you'll post your writing sample here, we'll help you!

You do the same thing I do -- it's called "run on sentences". Master the "short, declarative sentence" -- sort of like "See Dick run. See Spot run. See Jane run."

And I love ellipses and semi-colons and colons....and all that good stuff. But they do not belong in "writing samples".
