What a learning experience!

This past weekend I did my 1st shop for Company X (Ms Company X) on 8-3-19 at Client of Company X. When I got home, I looked at the sassie app to see what I needed to do to file my report. I don't have access to a scanner so I took jpg pictures of the receipt and the three pages of the report. I thought I'd be able to upload them. The sassie app was totally unhelpful. I have looked at my area of the site, and I still don't see where I could file the reports or how that needed to be done.

So, I sent the information to Ms. Company X via the email I had been using to ask questions I had. She was prompt in answering my questions. When it came to this matter, however, not so much. In looking at her responses, it's almost as though she didn't even bother reading any of them. All she seemed concerned about was to tell me I didn't do what I needed to do in the 24 hours after the shop; therefore, I wouldn't be reimbursed what I had been told I would be reimbursed.

I know I'm not getting reimbursed. Not a very big deal. I had a very pleasant dinner with a super good screwdriver, and I enjoyed the people watching. I'm beginning to think Client of Company X only has one line dance number and song because the one I watched the other night was the very same one I watched when we first started going to Client of Company X.

I know I did something wrong, but I'm not sure how to fix it for the future. I will do all I can to avoid Ms. Ms Company X in the future; however, the last email I sent her wasn't very nice. As a matter of fact, I will think about Company X long and hard before I attempt another shop with them.

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I'm not adverse to education either!

I'm pretty much in the dark on most of your post. Perhaps because I don't do dining shops. I can give you one word of wisdom though. Don't ever, ever, ever, send emails that are not very nice. You can certainly express frustration or disagreement, but always do it in a polite and professional way.

When you say 'line dance' I think I know the MSC and the client being shopped. I have no earthly idea why you would make a jpg of the report because you fill that in directly on line. At some point while you are filling out the report it asks for an upload of the receipt. This is simply opening that part of the report and then finding the jpg on your computer to upload into the report. When you have successfully uploaded you should be able to see a small image of the uploaded receipt. You need to figure this out quickly or you will most certainly fail.
I have absolutely no idea what a "sassie app" might be. I go directly to the company website and submit my report there.

Are you saying you use ONLY your smart phone, and were trying to input on your phone?
Al,

Some time back, I do not recall when, the Sassie site was changed; I was told to more accommodate cell phones. There are still occasions when I am stumped in accessing a specific area, so I can relate to your frustration. At first, predicated upon "line dancing," I had an idea. When, though, I considered the 24 hour statement, I realized I was wrong. I have completed 67 of those shops and have never been given a full day for the report. Do listen to the suggestions to date, as they are logical and professional.
Yes, I have done thousands of shops for MSCs that use the Sassie reporting platform and was completely unaware of an app for those companies. As far as RBG's steakhouse shops (assuming that's what you are talking about here), I just log in on the website and click on the submit link, then enter the report. If you don't have a scanner and take a photo of your receipt using your phone, you can email the image of the receipt to yourself, open it on your desktop computer and download it to your files, and then upload it into the report. If you are trying to do the report on your phone, that might be more cumbersome than a laptop or desktop to complete. In that case you can log in using the Internet on your phone and upload the receipt directly into the report as you fill it in, then click "submit" and you are done.
"... opening that part of the report and then finding the jpg on your computer to upload into the report. When you have successfully uploaded you should be able to see a small image of the uploaded receipt..."

And this is where you've lost me because I don't know what you're talking about. I looked and looked to discover how/where to do anything on line and I couldn't find any thing. It's probably clear as day to some, but not to me!
The only I used my phone for was to get a picture of the receipt. I don't understand what you mean by company website.
You said you took photos of the three pages of the report. You MUST have gotten those 3 pages from the company's website.

OK, here we go. Let's pretend it's SeeLevelHX. You go to Seelevel's website, log in as a shopper, and go to your shopper log. You'll see your shop listed (which has to be how you accessed the 3 page report somehow); to the right, you'll see a gray circle. Click on that circle, and then click on "report/submit".

But I fear it's too late, as you are now too far past the deadline.

I hope when you didn't get the help you needed here you contacted the company.

Have you done other shops for other companies, or was this your very first ever shop? If you have done other shops, I'm dying of curiosity -- how did you submit reports and so on without even knowing what a website is?
Yes, how did you have a copy of the report if you didn't print it out from the website?

Are we talking about two different things? I printed the instructions from the sassie site.
No, the sassie site for RBG (I think that's the right MSC for what you are talking about) would be the same site where you enter your report. In your shop log, there are several links, and one of them is where you enter your report. It's entered online. I am sorry you got so confused, must have been your first time? I would email the scheduler and explain your issue (it of course can't save this past shop) but in the future, you could try again if they will let you.

This was my very first ever shop. Which company should I have contacted? Frankly, I didn't expect to be reimbursed at all because I took snaps of the receipt and all three pages. Up until I submitted the paperwork on Saturday, I had been in email contact with the "supervisor" of the shop. Then it was like she wasn't reading any of my subsequent emails, which just added to the frustration level. I don't know how much time I wasted on trying to locate the "correct" way to submit paperwork. I don't think one should have to go to a forum site to get information when one has a "supervisor." Maybe I'm crazy.

I'm very hesitant to try another shop. Of course, I also live in an area where I have a feeling there won't be many in the first place. Not a big deal. More something for me to do than for any possible income.
Ahhhh. I see. I am really glad you came here. The scheduler likely had no idea that this was your first ever mystery shop! I am sorry that they didn't make it clear how to go about doing this. I really would reach out to them and explain to them that this was your first shop and you didn't realize how to go about it. I do have another suggestion for you: sign up with Marketforce. It's a different reporting platform, but it will help you a lot in understanding how to go about completing mystery shops...cut your teeth, so to speak.

If at first you don't succeed, try try again! Keep on posting questions in the forum as you go along, you came to the right place.
This was my first shop. I don't know how many times I looked at the sassie page for some kind of link and I swear I didn't see anything. I tried clicking on those things I thought logically would give some kind of response with no luck. I had been emailing the "supervisor" forever. Until the shop occurred, she was responding to me. Once the shop was completed, it was like she wasn't reading what I was telling her. That just made the whole situation even more frustrating than I thought it needed to be.
Thanks for the words of encouragement, but I think I'm going to step back a bit. I will follow through on your Marketforce suggestion, however. In my emails to the "supervisor," I told her several times this was my first shop ever. Once the shop was completed, she just went on to the next thing in her agenda, IMO, and didn't care what my struggles were.
Oh dear. Don't let this deter you. Schedulers do get very busy and if she didn't understand that this was your first shop, then she may have just gotten deep with other work. In the future, if you decide to do another shop with any MSC that uses the sassie system, ask if someone can talk to you on the phone. That way you can get someone to walk you through the steps needed to do the shop.
I do like your attitude, that you enjoyed the outing, and you're not ranting and raving about this rotten thing that happened.

Good luck. I hope your next posting is of a job you completed, reported, and got paid for!
I don't think she didn't care. She just didn't know that you didn't understand how to submit the report. Schedulers don't get paid if the shop isn't completed and submitted, so she just didn't know. She has to reschedule the shop, and most schedulers get paid per shop, not by the hour, so if it doesn't get submitted, she likely didn't get paid for it. I chalk it up to a misunderstanding.

Hi, alcmtr. I'm sorry to hear that your first mystery shopping experience did not turn out well. The SASSIE Shop Log can be confusing. I made a quick image of a few buttons that might be helpful in the future. ceasesmith gave a good explanation, but I think visuals are helpful.

Also, to clear up a common confusion: SASSIE is a reporting and scheduling platform used by many mystery shopping companies (kind of like how many people use a social media platform like Facebook). So, if you ever have an issue, you would contact the mystery shopping company using SASSIE (e.g., Shoppers' View), not SASSIE itself.

I hope you try again. This is a great place to ask questions and learn. There's a lot of helpful posts to start reading in the New Mystery Shoppers area.

I have read on this forum about other shoppers getting confused by the Sassie site format. Many times it’s the down arrows that get missed. You need to click on the down arrow to see the details of the assignment. Since many MSC’s use the Sassie format, it’s important to understand how it works if you are going to be successful at mystery shopping. I hope you give it another try.
@alcmtr

I'm so sorry to hear about the troubles you are having. Please don't let that leave a bad taste in your mouth for MSing; it's a great side gig to get into!

I remember when I was new and I was COMPLETELY incompetent with the tech world. Part of the reason I liked shopping in the very beginning was because it DID help me be much more tech savvy. HOWEVER, in the first couple months, it took me HOURS longer than it should have to get the reports submitted.

I started off with Sassie shops and then learned about all the other platforms. I was overwhelmed, so for a very long time, I ONLY took Sassie shops...until I learned their format well. Then I ONLY took Prophet shops...etc.

I would advise you to contact your scheduler ("supervisor"winking smiley in this case and ask if you can be reconsidered for another shop. Explain that you had a tough time getting started and ask for any tips. (rotation is 3 months). Do it, and plan on spending a long time on uploading things and completing the report. When you've done it once, successfully, it will get easier and easier from there....

Good luck!
WOW!!!!!! Thank you! You are right...the visuals help--a lot!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I have a better understanding of what to look for!!!!!!! I sincerely appreciate your post!
Christine is amazing! You know, her company, Shopper's View, has easy phone shops you can do from home. No out of pocket expense. Maybe try a few of those to get comfortable with the sassie system?

I totally understand your frustration. If you can use a laptop, try this. Send the pic from your phone to FB posting it WITH THE PRIVACY SETTING "ONLY ME". Then go to FB and save the photo to your computer taking note of what you name it and where it's being saved. Then go to your report and select upload files, find the photo where you saved it, select it and upload it.

If you can ONLY use your phone, in your Sassie report there is an UPLOAD button. If you click on that, it should take you to a screen that says ADD FILES.CLICK that and it should give you the option of going to CAMERA (take a picture) or PHOTO GALLERY (photo already taken). Click on Photo Gallery and it should show you your camera roll. Select your photo, click DONE and you should return to your report where you then click on START UPLOAD. The photo should then be in your report. Good luck.
kryswyn, I think you missed reading the other posts that came after, as it turns out the OP didn't know how to submit the report online...I think he/she now understands better how to go about it.
