MSCs with apps that actually work on-site?

I wish Maritz had an app like the Mobi-Audit. It is so much easier than the one they have.

It's just like if you input it on the computer and save it, it's there later for you to finish. Could anyone imagine completing a Coyle report completely using the app? That would be a bear. Anything with a narrative involved is tedious for me to complete on my phone. But yes, photos and everything else will be saved. I have never had to do any synching of anything. I just make sure that I close out the app completely after saving what I have entered, then when I get home log into the site, pull up the report, look it over, and finish it. For Alta 360 and IPSOS I submit it immediately, well before I get home.

Second to None has an app. The Source has their own app. I had heard MF had one but people in the forum posted complaints about it so I never bothered getting it, and their reports are so simple I didn't see the point when I can submit them in 10 minutes when I get home. I don't do enough shops for Maritz to bother getting their app, either (and their shops are simple, too).

OK, stupid question 1,318,423: so, if you save it on your phone, when you get home and go to the website on your PC (or laptop, or whatever your device at home is), the report will be there, already filled it, with photos or anything else that you submitted on site?

This does not require "synching" or any other tech stuff that's over my head?

And I'll be able to voice enter the long strings of numbers? I don't need a mike or anything, it's like (OK, dumb question 1,318,424!) no additional peripherals?

Thanks, guys. This is a steep learning curve for me.

(Oh, yeah, as for the e-bay and Amazon thing, yes, I sold on them for years. In 2005 I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I do not have health insurance, so I could not get treatment for it -- and I wouldn't have been able to pay the deductible and 20% if I did have health insurance, so it's moot, anyway -- and by 2015, my hands had gotten so bad I could no longer package and ship my sales. Yes, I can still do USPS shops, because the packages are small and light, and I only do a few each month. I did enjoy it; I still have pen pals in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe because when I shipped overseas, I always put a handwritten letter in, inviting correspondence! But I am no longer physically capable of professionally packaging and shipping up to 30 items a day. But for years, I double-dipped by hitting every thrift shop I could find when I was route shopping, and reselling the items I bought. They worked very nicely together! I could often make several hundred dollars on a route, and resell finds for another $100 or so!)
@KarenMSW answered better than I could. Input on site, then pull it up when you get home. You can submit on site if you have Wifi. Otherwise, it takes too long.

Incidentally, I don't use MobiAudit, I use the Ipsos app, which appears to be pretty much identical.

Thank you, Panama, for actually answering my question.

Do you mean, input the info, then when I get home (where I have the wi-fi), just hit "done" then?

And can you do more than one shop for IPSOS and upload all of them later? Will it let you go on to the next shop to input without hitting "done"?
Try both with and without the app until you figure out what works best for you. I can finish a gas station visit in about 15 minutes just snapping the pictures and writing my cryptic notes while it takes about 25-30 minute per site if I submit it via the app regardless of whose app I use. In the end, the time per station is about the same, it just depends on whether I'd prefer to spend the time during the day or at night. So, particularly when the visits take longer to get there, I'd rather max my income out and do more visits realizing that I'll have to put in the hours in the evening. However, if I do that too many days in a row the reporting in the evening becomes much more tedious so I'd rather use the app at that point and not have any reports at night. Also, make sure that you have a good quality car charger (get it from a phone store, not a cheap one online). Some of the apps drain my battery, particularly when I am in more rural areas so the ability to have a well charged battery will save a ton of frustration and time.
I got a super fast dual port car charger via Amazon that's amazing. A fellow forum member who has prime ordered it for me. I think it was far less than what I would have paid instore. I think it was less than $10.
The Source, Observa, We Go Look, iSecretShop and Presto are the ones that I have had success with. I have been able to complete the entire shop via the app while still on site.

MobiApp for Ipsos is awful for me. It lags, so I check in and out. I finish the report at home on my laptop.

cease, you don't have health insurance? During the furlogh, I didn't think my health insurance was active. I signed up for Obamacare for $5 a month. It's through Kaiser Permanente, whom I like very much. I still have them.

I'm trying to remember all of the details of your situation, do excuse me if the following don't apply. Can you do any of the following jobs? If I was in your position, I would be doing a lot more than trying to mystery shop.

-Walmart greeter?
-Customer service at a supermarket?
-Work at home options like:
Teaching English via Skype
Listening to audio and transcribing
Online personal assistant
Fiver jobs
Amazon mechanical turk

Have you considered moving to a lower cost of living area and renting a room? Maybe near an area that is more urban or has more shops? I just looked up renting rooms where we are. In PA, you can rent a room in central PA for $400 with all utilities included. There are a ton of shops and local transport options for free. There are lots of churches that offer assistance with all kinds of things around here too. They have food pantries and clothes, etc. I'm just familiar with the area near us, but if rooms are $400 here, they can be lower elsewhere.

There has to be some other option. Your current situation is untenable.

Cease, I do Amazon Mechanical Turk myself. I do academic surveys, but they have other stuff to do. There is another survey site call Prolific. It doesn't have as much but is easier for me than MTurk.
Niner and mawmaw, all great ideas. I live 45 miles from the nearest Walmart. We have no jobs locally (town has fewer than 700 people). I have applied for every job opening in the past 18 months, including waitress, dishwasher, cashier at the c-store. Every. Single. One. I did get one interview, but was not hired.

I don't have the necessary hardware for the teaching -- no camera, no mike. If I could get those things, I think I would be a great teacher! I would have to learn to Skype....and a bunch of other stuff.

Will definitely check into Mechanical Turk (what is it? I heard it only paid pennies?). I don't know what fiver jobs are.

I have applied for live-in nanny jobs. I also think I would be good at that!

Maybe I should start another thread about work at home jobs. I have literally spent 100s of hours looking. Are there any that are not scams?
Mechanical Turk is run by Amazon.com. Sometimes it is hard to get in. When you do get in you may have to do penny hits to build your number of hits as they are called. I have been doing this for about 6 years and have 20,000 hits. It depends on what you can do. I usually do the academic surveys. If you have Facebook there are several good groups on this. Mturkmembers and Mturktips and more. You can make more than pennies but it takes time. Check out prolific. It is in the UK, They don't have a lot but it is all surveys from universities. These are not scams.

I live in a smaller town than you. Probably 400! The nearest Walmart is 25 miles from me. I'm so sorry you are having these problems. My husband and I draw Social Security and I do mostly gas stations for Maritz, Alta 360 and Ipsos. I lost most of the stations from Ipsos this time because you can only do them twice this year.
Cease, I get a daily email from realwaystoearnmoneyonline.com. I read it for weeks without actually doing anything with it, but I got some good idea. There's tons of things on there that I have no interest/education in, so I go right by it, but I'm sure plenty of people go past the things I love to do. There's all kinds of jobs posted for working at home for all different types of companies and is kind of a clearing house for ways to make money from home.
I know you're not tech savvy, but if you can write ok, you might think of starting a blog. It won't make you a ton of money unless you work really hard at it, but you can get paid just for having ads on your site that people click on. I used to do a beer review blog just for fun, but the perks of free product all the time added to the fact that I'd talk to someone for 4 hours straight about craft beer if they let me made it all worth it. If I had any initiative, I could have turned that into a major money maker a few years ago and I'd not be where I am now (here..lol) You don't have to have a lot of tech and there are templates everywhere for them.

Shopping the South Jersey Shore
You could pick a community where you could rent a room pretty cheap with public transportation and many MS jobs (check out zip code on the sites ahead of time) and start a Go Fund Me page for the moving expenses. I would donate. You could probably find a part time job and MS both.
Cease, what ever happened with the GoFundMe account you had a few years back? Is it still active?
I just did a search on Go Fund Me and it says "no results". I think my daughter closed it out. It was after I was injured at Pizza Hut, and couldn't work. I got an eviction notice, and it raised enough to keep me from being evicted -- a little over $l,000, if I recall correctly. That was May, 2015, and I was able to go back to work in July, 2016. So it's probably been closed for over 3 years now. A friend started it for me, then turned it over to my daughter, who didn't want to be bothered, LOL.

I never got a dime from worker's comp.

I applied for food stamps two weeks ago (thanks for the links, you people who sent me info in PMs!), and I received them already. $14.

I am at the computer at least 6 hours a day, exploring the possibilities people have posted.
I just realized that if you don't know where the funds are going, it is probably unwise for me to repost that link to your old GoFundMe account. I removed it. Sorry.

I am sorry you are having hard times. I hope you move somewhere that is affordable. I wish you the best.

WOW! How in the world did you find it? Reading what people wrote then, I'm just sitting here crying.

I'm not kidding. I did a search, and got no results.

I don't think I've ever even seen the list of people who donated before, and I never knew it raised over $l500.

Thank you! It's a great reminder of kindnesses from the past, total strangers who posted the most lovely things. Thank you again! Oh, that biggest contribution was from my son. I did know about that. Haven't spoken to him or heard from him in 17 years, except for that. He made it as "anonymous".
Sorry, you can't reply to this topic. It has been closed.
