Why does Maritz Require Copy of Drivers License?

I’ve done Intellishop oil change shops for 10 years. Last year, the company changed to Maritz. ??? And now to do any mystery shops wth them, I must first supply a copy of my drivers license? Why? They have name, address, DOB, SSN. How secure are they? It’s bad enough I have to provide my DOB & SSN...SSN should be enough.

These shops are being scheduled through our client MaritzCX. You will need to register as a new shopper on their site at [mysteryshopping.maritzcx.com]

Please be sure to indicate that you were referred by Kern Scheduling on your registration and be sure to complete your required paperwork to fully setup your Maritz account (Photo ID, SSN, etc.).”

Well, technically what you copied says, "photo ID" not "driver's license", but certainly a driver's license, or a state-issued ID, or a passport, or maybe even a school ID card would suffice. Some MSCs do require a driver's license, or a state-issued ID, or a passport for some shops, especially compliance shops. Why does Maritz require this and some unspecified prior MSC did not for the same shop? Probably because Maritz must have a photo ID for some shops and chooses to apply the same requirement to all shops.
