Shop reviewed before being submitted?

OK, so this is the second time this has happened to me. This morning I completed a report except for the narrative. I saved the report but didn't submit it. I ate breakfast, went back to the report and completed the narrative. I then submitted it. After that, I checked my email, which I do several times per day. There was an email from the editor for this MSC telling me to write a narrative and back up all "no" answers. This had been sent prior to my submitting the report! So I was evaluated on a report that wasn't finished and hadn't been submitted. This happened a couple of years ago (different MSC). I was literally writing the last couple of sentences of my report, and all of a sudden it showed up as "received" in my shop log, before I'd finished and submitted it. I was in mid-sentence and couldn't complete it, since it was locked for editing. I emailed the scheduler, but was never allowed to finish it, and my grade was something like 8/10.

Now, on the shop from this morning, the comments the editor made are showing up as if I had submitted an incomplete report. I emailed her as soon as I saw her request for the narrative and explained that I hadn't submitted it when she reviewed it. The shop still showed up as "complete" for several hours after that, but now that it's "received," I think the comment should be removed. It looks like I didn't do my job right. I don't know if I should ask to have that comment removed or just let it go. It bothers me, though.

How does this happen? Do any of you who have done editing for MSCs know why an editor would access an unsubmitted report and complete a review when the report was clearly not finished?

Interesting. What platform? Sassie? Either way, good to know, but as long as the lower end-rating doesn’t affect your shop and bonus potential, I wouldn’t have any heartache over it, if you’re feeling that way. Also, what MSC?

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!

Yes, it's Sassie. MSC is Anonymous Insights. I won't lose sleep over the comment, but since she edited it before I submitted it, it's not an accurate assessment. I don't mind being justifiably marked down or asked for additional information, but this isn't that. Should another editor or a scheduler see that down the line, I don't want them to think I'm a total ditz.

I work with one small MSC that will send me e-mails occasionally which say, for example, "Hey, Rousseau, thanks for doing the shop yesterday. I see you've started the report. Don't worry its not due until midnight, but you might want to double-check your times. It shows you arriving at 8:30 PM and departing at 7:45 PM. Perhaps you got the times reversed. Or do you have a time travel machine?"
I have never edited for any Sassie platform MSCs. I can't imagine why they would jump the gun like that, but I too would be irritated!

I do shops for one MSC that are really merchandising visits. When I first started doing them, I would enter the info on my phone and save it as incomplete so I could look it over when I got home before submitting. Each time the project manager submitted them before I had a chance to review them.
Maybe it's a very new editor

Or maybe it's an editor who "wants the job..." in a sense that they have to pick up shops quickly to get the editing job/$. That could mean that the editor wants to do your shops because of the "easy edit."
This happened to me once with an MSC that specializes in hotels. They contacted me and told me to stop using so many quotes! I was only half done with report but I appreciated the feedback! Haha
I have neither ever encountered such a problem nor was aware it existed until today. I did, however, have a situation a few years back when a scheduler assigned me 19 shops for which there was not an immediate need and each of which I was not in rotation to accept. The owner of the small MSC contacted me to cancel the work and explained the gal in question was leaving his company; she attempted to front load the work to be paid.
I had a Sassie shop where this happened, a few years ago. I filled out the shop complete with narratives, but without the date and time. I saved it to edit later for spelling and grammar. While I was checking email, there was a message from the editor thanking me for my work and saying the shop had been sent to the client. I guess they were in a hurry????

I've never actually had it happen that the editor edited before it was submitted.

However, I often get my shops started asap, and put in some narrative, save and go back later.

In that instance, I've had them "approved" within minutes of submission. Pretty sure that's because they had already been reviewing it
Yes, I had something like that happen before. I completed most of an evaluation and saved it. It was not due until 24 hours after the shop was completed. I wake up the next day and had received an email telling me my evaluation was incomplete. Duh, I know. That's why I saved it and not submit it..Sheesh.
Why bother giving shoppers the option to save a shop and go back to finish it later if they're going to review it before it's in "submitted" status and send emails saying it's incomplete?

Hey, editors, if I haven't hit the "submit" button, then my shop isn't complete! You can get a head start on it if you wish, but don't send me emails telling me it's incomplete. Duh. I know that.

Many years ago I had an editor tell me they were reviewing the report as I was entering it. They were in a hurry.

I swear RealityBasedreports does this. Multiple times I’ve submitted my report and got an email saying it’s been reviewed 3 minutes later.
Nothing wrong with getting a leg up on the workload, but do.not.send shoppers emails asking for more information and telling them they need to complete the report when the report is not yet complete!

This is eye opening for me. I often write quick narratives on the road. When I get home I'll rewrite after thinking through the shop objective and mentally processing the interaction. Sometimes a negative narrative turns into a positive review or vise versa having initially focused on less important aspects of the interaction. I haven't considered anyone reading my work before submitting it.
Maybe we should put notes in caps on all of our unfinished shops when we log out, intending to finish later.

I'M NOT FINISHED YET. I'LL BE BACK.
