Mercantile (Shop Merc) shop cancelled without notification.

Check your job boards often and right before you leave. I had one of the curbside restaurant pick ups scheduled for today and even got an email early this morning reminding me to do the shop. I also did one on Monday so I assumed there would be no problem. I checked the job board this afternoon and the job was gone. Again, no notification from Merc. Yes I checked my Spam folder. Tried calling but only could get voice mail. Emailed my scheduler who promptly answered that all shops were cancelled this morning. Not sure what “all” means as they still have other assignments listed as avail. I actually went to the restaurant on my own dime has they have a great Thursday rib special. I had no problem with the take out.

Edited to add that I now see no new shops listed, at least in Calif.

Great that you are putting out the warning!!!!

San Diego is a hotbed right now. Don't you live in Cali? My best guess is that they are all working remotely from home and are limited. Weird they have the other shops on the site, yeah. Don't know what to make of that.

I did a shop Saturday and another on Monday. The shops went well, despite the virus scare.

I think it was Sunday that our governor closed our restaurants, and I sent an email in after I found out, thinking I would get a response Monday. Staci actually replied to me same day, surprisingly.

I always do their takeouts and never dine-in, so much easier for the same pay, right?
That just happened to me. I did the shop then went to do my report and my assignment isn't there. That sucks.
Oh wow. We are all in such a state of flux right now. I appreciate the schedulers who actually gave the heads up that shops were going to be canceled.

If you actually did the shop and did not receive notification that it was cancelled (like me), they should at least pay you something. I would contact your scheduler. I'm not going to pursue any payment since I did see it wasn't listed before I left the house. Hopefully it is not a total loss for you and you can enjoy the food.
It is quite understandable in these unique times that shops, especially restaurant shops, would be cancelled. It is not understandable or acceptable that Merc or any shopping company does not notify assigned shoppers of the cancellation. I have worked with Merchantile Systems for several years, and we have a great working relationship. I had a curbside pickup shop scheduled for tonight any received no notice of the shop cancellation. I just happened to check the web site this morning and saw my assigned shop and all other shops removed from the web site. Had I completed the shop and spent money I would be perturbed. There is no excuse for the lack of notification.
They say the virus can possibly live up to 3 days on hard surfaces but they aren't for sure. But once that infected employee walks back in the kitchen, it starts all over again.
If I remember micro correctly, bacteria can live on hard surfaces. Viruses need a live medium to recreate.

Very true JAS! I'm blissful in my ignorance, so I don't read up on it.

Well without getting too scientific, hepatitis is a virus. You can get that from a surface.

I’m not getting coronavirus from touching anything. If I get it, it’s definitely going to be from somebody coughing or sneezing. We’ve had to ramp up sanitizing and hand washing even more than usual. Finally today, my hands are actually bleeding.
