For $5, no thanks. I took grocery shops at no fee cause I need groceries anyway, but I don't need to do retail PITA shops for insultingly low stipends.

With a $5 fee in my area. Hard pass.

Hahahaha I thought that I wrote this. That's exactly my style.
Mattress shops are $30 min for me

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
The problem I had/have with targeted mattress jobs is that in my two experiences, the scheduled target was not working and I was not permitted to shop anyone else. While I learned that during the phone call, it, in both instances, threw my planning off for each day. Each shop was paying $37 I would only accept one in the future if it were near my house AND, if the target were not available, my schedule would be unaffected

$15 or “name your price” and many still on the board here — but my $25 offer (I have a shop around the corner) was rejected. I certainly won’t be doing it for less.
Since I was looking for something to do and was going to be in the area anyway I was happy with the $17 they accepted.

I still don't get the $0 fee. No one is going to do a shop for free with nothing in return. Why even post it? Even if I was looking for a mattress, it wouldn't benefit me to do a favor for MF. I do them a favor when a burger reimbursement eats into my bonus.

You would be surprised. Or maybe you would not be.

Up to $15 in my area with a "make an offer" button, but since the MSC has been regularly nuking my make-an-offers for another client, I'm not bothering yet. If they get to $20 we'll talk, there are a few of this chain within a few miles of me.
I'm going to do one next week that has been bonused to $18.00. Hubby & I are actually looking for a mattress, so I figured I would try this out. First time. So we'll see.

What?!

Is this the bored seniors theory?

Not a theory. It’s a reality.
These got up to $22. I made an offer for the $35 I got last time which was rejected (as I figured it would be). A day later the number of these shops on the board within a few miles of me went from about 20 to 1, so seemingly it got high enough for someone to grab a large quantity of them.
If there really are that many bored seniors, I'd love to start a gardening and landscaping company that could use some physical laborers. I'd be happy to not pay anyone anything and have all the profits come to me! Come one, come all!
I could see a situation where I'd take a $0 shop (albeit not this one) so I could get a $25 parking garage bill paid for by this MSC.
I've been avoiding these as I did not want to lie down on a mattress in a public store. Did you lay down on the mattresses? I have two I took via phone call from GA scheduler with nice bonuses. I wonder if I can just "touch" the mattress...with a wipie..ha ha..Not looking forward to it. Maybe they'll put down a protector or something.

I hope someone who has done one responds to your post, as I was wondering the same thing. They have multiple ones in my area every month but I am hesitant to do them because of the pandemic. Also curious how to take pictures inconspicously?
.
$5.00 is not enough for me to put on my socks, find my keys, hop in the car, and drive to any store. Let alone walk in the door, engage with a salesperson, return and write a report. What a joke.

Yes, I laid down on the mattresses. The guidelines state that you are to lay down on them if offered. The guidelines state not to do so can make it obvious you are the mystery shopper. On the mattresses with a pillow, the associate placed a protective cover on the pillow for my head. But on the mattresses with no pillow, I just plopped down. If it concerns you that much, perhaps it is not a good shop for you right now. The store also had a table with sanitizer, gloves and masks for customers. I felt perfectly fine doing this shop.
I did both shops today. It was fine. The fellows in both places told me they sanitize the mattresses with a spray...don't know how thorough that is, but in any case, I did lay down and relax on the mattresses. Both guys put protective covers over the pillows. I read the guidelines and knew what was expected, thank you. I was just curious since it seems like a great place to spread the virus due to contact with material. For $50 I took my chances. I carry wipes and hand sanitizer everywhere I go.

$50??? WOO-HOO! That's awesome for 2 of those shops!! Once in a while MF does get up to a price that makes it worthwhile to do their shops! I was happy with my one at $18, but when I see other shoppers do well, I'm glad for them!

Back on the board in my area for $8. Not enough but I suppose a small incremental "opening bid" over the $5 they were offering in the last round. In my high-population, high-shopper area I'm actually interested in trying one if they get up to $20. We shall see how this goes.
Up to $12 now, as the $8 shops don't seem to have gotten much of any response at all here. Keep going. Next step is $15 if history is a guide.
