Mortgage Bankers Field Services: 4.00 inspection pay.

So I got a call offering me this opportunity to perform occupancy inspections, with verifications and taping docs to the door...for the sterling sum of 4 dollars per inspection.

This company is basically a jobber for loan servicers, whose customers are going into foreclosure. I would not want to be the one delivering bad news or scoping their S2B former homes, and not for 4.00 gross, since likely you will be using your copier for their docs.

SMH SMH not me ! I told this recruiter to take me off their call list, and that 4.00 is obscene and insulting.

If anyone's interested in 4.00 gigs, go for it. Please keep in mind the inherent risk factor involved. I cannot emphasize this enough. Also, the insultingly low pay that goes with this.

WTF! My mouth is on the ground for so many reasons!

$4?! Who is that desperate!

You are delivering foreclosure documents...bad news! I did preforeclosure work for WGL and it was terrifying. Luckily, I never encountered anyone.

No misprint. The recruiter definitely said 4.00/per job,

I would have been embarrassed to have even made the call seeking takers. Lot of luck with that. I don't even yawn for 4.00/hour.

Yep, another WGL type looker-plus-added-risks and expenses job.

They are increasing the likelihood that the compensation for that service will be regulated. As in, the government setting new rules for how companies who use gig workers calculate the minimum pay per job. $4 probably won't cover the IRS mileage allowance.
I worked in this field about 10 years ago. The money was actually slightly higher back then. I worked for a contractor with the main company, whose clients included many well known banking institutions. The manipulation and games the main company played bordered on sinister. They justify the low pay because their theory is that in heavily populated urban areas you can knock out a bunch of these in a short amount of time. This is true; however, these areas are often sketchy and risky. The more rural areas paid a little more because you couldn't do as many as the urban areas. The deal was my contractor had to take an entire territory consisting of urban and rural areas. Some areas had more work than others obviously, but it all needed to be assigned and covered. We ended up doing really well in one of the urban areas where the main company previously had staffing difficulties. They decided if it was so easy, there must be other contractors dying for the work who would do it for less. They found someone who would do it for $2.50 and were generous to first offer us the opportunity to do it at that price. We said no. A couple of weeks later they came crawling back begging us to take the work at the old higher price. The new contractor was horrible and the work was not done. It showed in the system as Late, which is unacceptable. There are certain regulated time restraints and late work put a client and the bank in jeopardy of losing contracts.Your own company also gets work based on your on time percentage. The more late work you have, the lower your credibility goes. We were handed all that late work, but it came with the low on time percentage on it already. We asked if it could be adjusted to NOT affect our own percentage rate. They refused.
I feel sorry for anyone who would be so broke as to work for 2.50. That is immoral and exploitive. Shame on this company for taking advantage of IC's like this.
What goes around, comes around....
I think that I just saw something that beats all.

75 photos. Pay is $7.50
A penny a photo.
That’s an all time low I think?

That's 10 cents per photo.

LOL You're right! Still not worth it though.
SS4U states--I feel sorry for anyone who would be so broke as to work for 2.50.

Bob's opinion--I completely agree.

SS4U adds--That is immoral and exploitive. Shame on this company for taking advantage of IC's like this.

Bob disagrees--An MSC's responsibility is to their share holders and employees, not to independent contractors. After all, this IS business.
