It was fun MarketForce

After 7 years with no problems, I got the following from MarketForce over the weekend...

Hi,

We need to let you know that we have opted to discontinue our Independent Contractor relationship with you and will not be offering you any other assignments.

As you know, either party to an Independent Contractor business relationship has the right to walk away from the relationship without penalty or explanation.

Thank you for your past efforts on our behalf.

Happens frequently, especially if you are 65+.

Market Force tries hard to match local demographics; if the population is 27% senior citizens but 40% of their shopper base are elderly females, they cull their rolls ruthlessly.

A very good reason to not put all of your mystery shopping eggs into one basket (or even a dozen.)

Hi all! This is not what I like to seesad smiley
I'm not aware of the policy by ColoKate63 or any reason why Shopper2656 would have received that message. While we do reserve the right to cancel the relationship at any time and without reason, we usually do not (unless of course there is a reason; high cancellations, lack of contact/interaction, etc.). I am happy to chase down what happened if this has happened to you. Please DM me your shopper ID or email address and I will look into it.

I went to an IMSC conference 9 years ago where a Market Force executive was speaking.

During the Q&A session afterwards someone who had been removed from the MF shopper pool asked him why, and that was his response. He didn't specifically use the "elderly female over 65" example, and spoke in a more general way, but he indicated that demographics was the driving force behind cuts like that. Four or so years ago, there were many forum threads here on the subject of "Market Force cut me, and I never flake!" and the common denominator seemed to be age.

Sounds like your policies have changed, and that's good. Thank you for reaching out. :-)

Wow MF is my go to company, but I am less than 45 though, so I dont know if I will get cut or not. I am sorry to hear that.
Wow! Rarely does a MarketForce rep show up here! Thank you, Sherri, for joining us, giving insight and attempting to help. I, for one, appreciate your presence!
Culling shoppers during a pandemic/quarantine when there is no reason other than possibly age seems unreasonable and a huge loss of experienced shoppers.
Or not since the OP just replied (after you posted) that they are 65+. Sad. Why not just leave them in the database and put age restrictions on the shops that the clients require it?

I was dropped by MFI in Nov. of 2010 within a week of my 68th birthday. I accepted their decision and within 3 months had lost approx. 25 lbs. and no longer suffered from either near diabetes nor high blood pressure. I give thanks to Market Force for possibly extended my life and certainly improving my appearance.
Well, I'm pushing 70 and I've been with them since the ShopNChek days, so no, I don't think it's an age thing.

Bob adds--I came aboard in 2005 with Speedmark Web. Not being why oriented, I merely accepted their decision and did not send an inquiry. If, though, it had been a top paying MSC, I might have asked if we could discuss any problems.
Why do you say Shopper2656 has a new ID here?

That's interesting. How do you all know these things? The word of former/current staff? eta: nevermind...just saw your comments re: this above!

Wow, I get the demographic pool mix though.
But I am 56 with a 13 yr old. The other day, my 14 yr old said, "Daddy looks younger, but you act younger [for your age]."
Not sure off the top of my head, but I am guessing they only have basic shopper profile details, not family demographics like market research companies (focus groups, et.al.).
Is it a good thing or a bad thing that I envision myself doing some version of this for the next 15 years or more? I like moving and meeting new people though. All good.
But the lifestyle of the FF shops, yes, I have been feeling it here and there after picking up many during the Pandemic, the convenience of free food while out, and/or the lure of the higher job fee with mostly simple reports if convenient to where I am at or going has mostly worked for me. Green tea and nutrient-dense salads, or the boutique healthier fast casual shops are all perfect tonics. I have great genes for low A1C, BP, etc. I am living the French Paradox.
Not sure why they'd completely remove someone though. This is a bad way of doing business. I can totally understand they need to match demographics. However, I am an extremely reliable shopper, I did every single shop I signed up to do. Lets say they no longer need me because they met the demographic criteria, will they let me back in if I move to a different market? Not saying I am moving due to MF lol, but just saying it seems kind of ridiculous. They'd be better off blocking off the shops the shopper can no longer do due to demographic issues rather than removing them completely from the system.

So many red flags. Not going to point them out publicly.

You're making what amounts to an accusation. Not unreasonable to ask you to back it up.
"So many red flags. Not going to point them out publicly."

This is typical of SoCalMama. Don't let it bother you, Shopper2656.

oh there you are again. Lovely

SoCalMama...and the red flags??

The red flag is you are new to posting on the board and your first post is about being dropped from a MSC. So firstly, since this is your first post, there is no credibility established yet. A lot of times people create an account here to complain and accuse MSC's of things on the board. However, when push comes to shove, the claims they make turn out to be inaccurate or they have done something to warrant the MSC's behavior.

So the lesson here is - establish some credibility on the board by posting and commenting before you decide to make a post that puts a MSC in a negative light.

Welcome to the 3 digit IQ club.

You’d think it was obvious, but not here apparently?
SoCalMama,

Why are you like this? Why do you think it is necessary to act this way?

Without getting into any of the specific back and forth, this might be a good time to remember that if you think anyone's posts detract more than they contribute, you can mute them by clicking on their username and then clicking "toggle user visibility" at the bottom.

You might want to check your post history and look up the definition of trolling.
You jumped right in here when you were not part of the discussion at all.
