Yep it was the world's largest longest going out of business sale. I think anybody that's shopped there in the last 2 years saw that coming and just wondered why it took so long.
I remember doing the reports during the final years they were around, and how they were trying to tap into the online ordering business. Honestly the way they ran their website ordering was a complete disaster. Which is surprising since you think they would know a thing or two about computers. Still going to miss them as they were like my Disneyland when it came to my tech and electronic stuff. Even the theming of the buildings were amazing ! I lived in LA, so would go to the Manhattan Beach one which was themed Tiki style complete with a koi pond in the middle. But also checked out Burbank, Anaheim, San Jose, Las Vegas as well. Interesting to note is that the brother who split off and wen the grocery path is still going great and even sold it to Kroger years back.
