Where have all the grocery shops gone?

I used to do a lot of grocery shops, and they have got me through some very skinny times. I quit working for one company because they changed the rules randomly and called me while I was in the middle of one of the shops that they called me and begged me to do. Then I found some others and I was doing them as often as possible, the pandemic shut down changed some things, and when they came back it felt more like going through the motions, it didn't seem as if anyone was paying attention at the MSC. Then they started dwindling, and now I haven't seen any for a couple months (maybe more, I lose track of time). Is anyone else experiencing this?

In my area, the grocery shops were sparse prior to the pandemic. One MSC had a regional chain and a fun, discount grocer. They have nothing now.

I haven't seen in store grocery shops in my area since the pandemic began. There were online grocery shops - either I ordered through the store's online ordering or Instacart. Those were great during the pandemic, but they stopped once everything opened up again. I think the stores are so overwhelmed, staff shortages, bare shelves - not exactly the best time to have mystery shoppers in the store.
I admit I feel a little pang of guilt mystery shopping during times of staff shortages, supply chain issues, etc., etc., etc.

I just don't think it's fair to hold a person to certain standards when they are doing the jobs three people would normally do. Nevertheless, I can hope for common courtesy from clerks. I'm mostly doing merchandising and announced audits right now, anyway -- and I have more job offers than I can accept.

The mobile apps are more merchandising. You don't buy any groceries.

not exactly. They are about certain displays inside the grocery shops

I used to do lots of grocery shops pre-pandemic. They're all gone now. I think companies are well-aware that their stores are all understaffed and have huge supply issues. No point paying mystery shoppers to confirm what they already know and are unable to fix.
Thank you wrosie! We do have the grocery shops in NY as well as in CT, MA, NH, PA, and VT.

I stil see the same grocery shop locations every week, just like before and during the pandemic.
Well, since folks started naming MSC's.. TheSource still has grocery shops near me, but they are the company that got strange a couple years ago and I refused to do shops for them anymore. I've been doing the grocery shops through Marketforce, they are simple and I grab all the sandwich shops I can. But they went away. Confero advertises grocery shops in my area, but the ONLY one they list in my entire state is 60 miles away.

Back in CA I suspect there are lots of grocery shops, between TheSource, Marketforce, Alta, and that other one that uses the Prophet platform software (can't remember the name of the company, I assume I'm still signed up with them, but they don't have any work for me here), there are plenty of grocery shops to do.

I most certainly miss having all the Hispanic and Asian grocery stores close by. They are few and far between here, and nothing like the ethnic stores in CA.
I do a lot of grocery shops. Several of the chains have dropped the MSC's and handle shops directly...no more middlemen.

How does this work? Where do they find shoppers? Do they pay their shoppers more because they no longer pay MSC's or scheduling companies? Inquiring minds want to know.

It seems the only thing they have available within 200 miles of me is preschool shops in Atlanta, GA.

I live in the Atlanta area and I have tons of shops available to me. I think you should probably sign up for additional MSCs. At any given time, I can find thousands of shops within 40 MI of the house.

I'm NOT in the Atlanta area, I'm in Northern Alabama, close to the TN state line. The MSC that elaineforvp recommended, said she gets grocery shops from them in PA, does not seem to have any grocery shops down here. I signed up for that MSC and the closest shops their job board listed were preschool shops in the Atlanta area, which is close to 200 miles from me. I am signed up to a LOT of MSC's, and I'm always looking for new ones to sign up with. Most of the companies I signed up with in CA don't have shops here in AL. Actually, there are precious few shops in and around the Huntsville area, and most don't pay very well. I have to wait until all the shops that are easy to do have been swallowed up by folks willing to work for far too little money, and drive miles and miles do to the difficult to get to shops in remote areas once they are bonused.
