Strange story, but true

Wow! You won't believe this! I did a job for Mintel on 5/15/2019 - but obviously forgot about it. Fast forward: a couple of months ago, I received a notification on my computer that many of my shopper passwords had been compromised and needed to be changed. Recently, I changed the Mintel password. I vaguely recall an invoice notification when I logged in and clicked on it. Anyhow, today I received the long-overdue $25 payment! Almost 2.5 years later!

That’s great that they finally paid you! I’m new to this, and I’m hearing some things about late payment. Is a common occurrence?

I completed my first shop April Fool's Day in 2003. I only have recollection of a single late payment, Mercantile; I deactivated and refused their request to re-establish a relationship. What many shoppers refer to as a slow/late payment, is actually the MSC paying according to their terms, but the contractor disliking that rigid adherence to the agreement. My suggestion is to ensure you are content with the fee and its payment terms. If not, avoid that MSC. If in doubt, post a request for assistance.

It is not common, no. There are a couple of MSCs that are notorious for late payments and, at least in my experience, the rest pay as agreed.

I am glad you got paid. It's always nice to get money when you are not expecting it.

I do worry about your job tracking system and wonder if you have missed other payments over the years. I also wonder how you track your income and expenses for taxes if you didn't notice a missed payment.

I did get some payments after 7 years from survey companies that closed my account for no reason.
