I completed my first shop April Fool's Day in 2003. I only have recollection of a single late payment, Mercantile; I deactivated and refused their request to re-establish a relationship. What many shoppers refer to as a slow/late payment, is actually the MSC paying according to their terms, but the contractor disliking that rigid adherence to the agreement. My suggestion is to ensure you are content with the fee and its payment terms. If not, avoid that MSC. If in doubt, post a request for assistance.
