Premise

Has anybody had any bad experiences with Premise? So far they've been above board, but it seems too good to be true. I love that the money transfers to PayPal in minutes, I cash out at 5:45pm CST, then head over to PayPal to transfer to my bank for next day deposit.

The tasks are super simple and most pay $1 each. I can knock out the price checks to the point where I'm making a decent hourly rate ($40/hr) but the bottom line is only $20.

I use Premise for the brief surveys. About every two weeks I cash out my $10. I've had some issues getting Paypal to work right away, and usually end up sending a note to their inquiry people. Eventually it goes through. Easy way to make about $20/month for a very few minutes of work in my PJs. I haven't tried any of the "tasks" because they remind me too much of Field Agent's Scavenger Hunts or Eye Spy tasks.

You should hook up with the price checks, especially if you know the grocery store layout. You can knock them out fast while you shop, because everybody is on their phones these days you don't stick out too much. I rotate between local stores and sometimes I get crazy & hit one of the big box stores that has the rest of items with their Red Bull Eye. Easy Peasy Money!

Well, Buck, I was at Walmart today and decided to try some of the price checks. I did 5. Total time walking the store and finding them was about 15 minutes, so average 3 min/each. $5.00 total if they all get approved. All done in store, no further work to do, so that's always nice. And I was there doing my regular weekly shopping anyway. So, we'll see. Thanks for suggesting I try them.

That's great, once you do a few price checks and learn you don't have to be OCD with the pics, they just just have to be legible, you can walk the aisles and do about 15-20 of them in 30 min or less. I feel compelled to rotate between stores but I don't think rotating is a requirement.

If real estate is hot in your area, the "for sale" pics are a real quick way to grab $2.50 for literally 2 minutes of work. The other easy one is "help wanted". As I bop around town doing errands, I make mental notes of for sale & help wanted signs, so I always have an inventory to select from. The "residential real estate rental" pics, a bit harder to come by at least in my area, they aren't real picky; I had one in semi-shady New Orleans neighborhood that was spray painted on the side of a house that I took while at a light, I figured I had nothing to lose and surprise it was accepted.

Do pics need to be taken in a specific orientation? And is cropping allowed?

Do you find that there are enough $1 checks you can even go past the $40 an hour average consistently?

When they have the price checks, there are usually about 20 items. Once you get used to the list and the store layouts, you can buzz through them fast. Sometimes it takes longer for the transmit of the results than the actual work.

My experience has been I hold the phone in portrait 99% of the time. When I can't seem to get back far enough for a long item (e.g. spaghetti box) I'll turn the phone landscape. There is an algorithm that checks the picks for clarity, most of the time my pics flag due to glare on the price tag, but as long as the price is legible, it gets approved.

I noticed in Premise that sometimes after you respond to a task, the task stays on your task list. Does that mean you can respond more than once to a task (such as a price check) from different stores?

You can only respond once. It takes a little bit for it to move to completed.

I've found that sometimes you need to refresh the page until you see that small round red circle going round and round. Then after it's refreshed the task you completed will be gone.

$1.00 is not enough for me to take my cell phone out of my pocket let alone turn it on. And $40/hr is not enough to walk away from much higher paying MS work.

Thanks Rousseau, I agree that these are not treated as "shops." However, if I am already in a grocery store (on a shop or not), these "micro shops" are an easy way to add a few dollars to your grocery shop. But I wouldn't make a special trip to complete them.

I haven't been in a grocery store since January, 2020. Curbside and go. Besides the pandemic which makes any store a dangerous place to be inside, its so much easier and quicker. I can't think of a reason to go into one ever again.

Jan 2020? Lock downs didn't start until mid March 2020.

Once I read about the lockdown in Wuhan in late January 2020 (watching videos of police welding apartment doors shut), I stocked up on groceries, toilet paper, disinfectant and N95 masks. I was done with in-person shopping by Feb 13, 2020.

It was prudent to proactively stop. It was already clear.

Teach me Rousseau! I don’t make squat. I try to work my ass off on weekends doing menial shops for $10 profit in 20-30 minutes.

When I’m lucky I score on something and make $40 an hour.

Most of the time I’m spending too much in gas or too much time.

Personally I don’t believe any of us need an expensive camera if you have a decent phone. Many phones take almost professional quality pics. Are you going to get paid a commercial photographer wage doing shops? I think not.

You need to make peace with the fact, this gig doesn’t bring in big bucks & never will. If you can gross $30/hr that’s doing awesome in this job.

When I started this gig, I went for A quality work, now I’ve ratcheted down to B/B-. Work vs Reward. And does anybody really care?

Has anybody else noticed the price monitoring shops price dropped 10% today? They are now 90 cents each. I'm sitting out for a while until the price goes back. Inflation up 7%, pay down 10% - sounds like a really good business opportunity.

Just checked after reading your post...yup, down 10%!! I don't need to do them that badly! I'll wait and see what happens.

ETA: I just sent them a message through their app "contact" us area and told them that I will not be doing anymore until the price goes back up to $1.00. I asked them how they could justify cutting the pay by 10% with inflation up by 7%. I'll probably get one of those "canned" email replies stating that "they are looking into it and will have it fixed as soon as possible" or something similar. Everyone who uses the app needs to send them a message!!!!!

The Premise Market is dynamic, which means available tasks, prices, and reservation hours change depending on the demand for data and the number of contributors completing the tasks. We are making some pricing adjustments to accommodate the new lists we are launching now.

New tasks become available for reservation throughout the day every day. Other contributors are competing to complete them, so be sure to check the Market at different times to reserve available tasks!
