Pay

Between myself and two brothers-in-law, we have done over 50 apartment shops never had a problem until now. They owe me for July 2021 for $100 and September 2021 pay for $1510 this is March 2022. I have been in touch with Monnie Howard, Valeria Valencia, and Debbie Depew. They have yet told me why they have not paid me. They informed me that when they have made a decision on whatever they're making a decision on they will notify me. My brother-in-law is in a wheelchair now so he makes the calls to the apartments set up the appointment and
I do the leg work then we split the money. It is a win-win for both of us. It took me 6 e-mails to Debbie Depew just to get her to send the request to Valeria Valencia I think. Then Valeria is the one who told me there was a problem with my profile. (?) Then I told them I was going to BBB, Monnie Howard told me that they should take me to the BBB that I work for them not them working for me. Now that I have bored everybody my question is who above Monnie Howard can I contact? Anybody got a number or e-mail for them or any other Ideas.

Most MSCs require you to work alone unless is is specified that you need to bring a companion (food shops) or MAY bring a companion (hotel shops). I'm not sure which MSC you're referring to, but telling them that you are splitting the work with someone else may have triggered a review.
Looks like Monnie is the CEO, so she's the highest. Also looks like they have never had a BBB complaint, so filing one will not look good for them. And her threat that she is filing a BBB complaint against you is ridiculous - there is no mechanism to do that. BBB rates businesses, not individuals.

You could also file a complaint with the CA Bureau of Security since Cirrus is listed as a licensed CA Private Investigator. That likely would prompt them to settle this with you - one way or the other. Good luck.

This is from Cirrus' website:

Cirrus is a licensed and insured private investigative agency (CA P.I. License #22047), bringing extra investigative knowledge and perspective elements to our services.
If you still have the guidelines I would look to see if you are allowed to have a companion. It may be a 1099 issue for them because income is being reported for one and not the other. Other than that, Cirrus doesn't pay even in 90-days and a mountain of excuses. Write a demand letter for payment that is due. Not an email, a letter, certified mail, return receipt.
That is an interesting arrangement you have with your disabled brother.

Most MS companies now have a check-off box on the shop form where the shopper affirms that they did all the parts of the shop themselves. Your arrangement goes against that, but it does not hurt to ask next time, for future shops.
If the MSC is paying you to do the shop, then you are the one who should conduct all of the shop (including the pre visit phone call). The client of the MSC is paying for a service and as small as it may seem, they are getting a "snapshot" of an experience from two different lenses---you and your brother in law. It is also fraudulent and illegal to, in essence, sub contract work to someone else under your identity.

If the MSC is Cirrus, search for Cirrus here. I believe there are many threads about slow/no pay where people have had to chase them to get paid.

I avoid them because of this and a couple of phone only shops that they never paid me for.
You have to stalk them like a crazy ex wife to get your money.

I haven't shopped for Cirrus in years, but I remember you need to submit an invoice to be paid. If that's still the case, maybe the OP needs to submit an invoice.

I did a couple of Cirrus shops years ago. The first shop they told me I talked too much and wouldn't pay. The second shop they said I didn't talk enough and wouldn't pay. The shops were not recorded, so how would they know? I won't touch their shops. I know it can take 6 months to a year, to get paid.
I could be wrong but I dont think youre allowed to do that, I think the same person who calls has to be the same person who does the tour. Messed up that they wont pay you though.

You do not work for them unless this is a company that has hired you under a W-2 agreement. You contract on a per job basis for them (per an IC agreement between you and the company) which is a stipulation that we all agree to before taking a job. If you were told that you "work for them", then you should be receiving benefits and having taxes deducted from your pay. You also should be receiving minimum wage, at the least. If you have something in writing stating "You work for us", ensure that you keep it in case you need to take legal action to receive your pay. I have only been an employee of one shopping company (now defunct) and have been involved with this industry since 2003. It seems that schedulers and MSC's are "forgetting" the fact that they work with contractors versus employees. I actually received an email from a scheduler this morning that stated, "You do not live far enough from XXX so we cannot pay you that amount". I thanked her and told her to have a great day. I will probably never email her again because she crossed a boundary. A scheduler has no business inquiring as to how far you live from a location in order to receive a bonus because their job is simply to get a job scheduled. A simple "Yes" or "No" is all that you should receive from a scheduler. Likewise, this company (whoever it is) has no business treating you like an employee (unless you are an employee). You rendered services and you should be paid for those services if they were performed according to the instructions you were given. If you have been dealing with this issue since last year, I would suggest having an attorney write a letter to the company. If you do not have the funds to hire a traditional attorney, many online firms offer services at a set rate (i.e., $39.99 per month). I hope this helps. If your shops were approved, you should receive payment and it sounds like the company has violated the IC agreement that you signed. I am only hearing your side of the story, however, so make sure that all your I's are dotted and your T's are crossed (save a copy of your IC agreement and screenshots or emails that show the shop approvals in case your account is deactivated due to this dispute). Best wishes.

Actually, we do 'work for' the MSC in the sense that they are our clients. We are a business owner & the MSC is our client. They hire us to complete a job. So yes, Monnie was correct that she should contact the BBB to report an issue with a business (shopper). Does a shopper care? Will a MSC actually take the time to do that? Probably not on both questions.

@luckygirl0100 if that is the way you see your relationship with a contracting company, that is your opinion. I state facts. I use the words "I contract for ..." as opposed to "I work for ..." to accurately describe my relationship with a company. The BBB is useless in resolving monetary issues, but then again, the OP is free to do as they wish. I was trying to provide some help to a new user of the forum. Do you prefer to confuse a new user by referring to the shopper as a business and defending a non-paying company instead of trying to help?
Thank you for your input.
