$30 Mattress Shops? No, Thank You.

ACE apparently has a new client. Last week, ACE sent out mattress shops emails. IIRC, there were six or seven locations. Today, I got another email and there was only one shop left.

Unless these mattress shops are unlike any of the ones I've done before, I can't justify doing them for $30 each.

If you're helping out for goodwill, that's different. I have done a few shops even at a loss.

You think $30 is bad, I did mine fo $20 to help a company out.
I'll do the mattress shops all day for $30 for Market Force. I find the reports to be easy and the shop relaxing.

Until 02/21, I had completed several mattress shops over the years for $30. That month, I applied for a job with Jancyn, a MSC for whom I had only accepted four assignments over a 16 year span; I was to be paid $37. After submitting the report, though, they E-mailed me it was too brief. As I had almost an hour detailing every facet of the visit, I responded to their request for more stating I had nothing else to add and that if my report were too short, they could decline my work. Begrudgingly, the visit was accepted but was docked $10. After I received payment, I requested but did not receive a deactivation. Jancyn now occupies space in my SPAM folder.
I have my first mattress shop with MF today. In my area they start at $8 but my fee is $25. We are actually in the market for a new mattress (mine is about 25 years old) so I am going to start taking a lot of mattress shops, putting all the fees aside and then buying a new mattress with that money. BM emailed me with a $30 one today and I might take that too.
Just got another email. Two of the shops are back, making a total of three shops. I wonder what happened to those two.
I've only done the ones with intellishop. I would not do them for less than $50. I've been able to get as much as $62 for an intelli shop mattress evaluation.
Marketforce for me! Multiple choice questions and a very short paragraph summary. And the reps usually do well so that makes it even easier!
Good heavens. The least amount I have ever done a "Simple, one paragraph" mattress shop for was $45 and I thought that was low! I have only completed 2 of these shops - the other one was for $70. I'm glad other folks like them - I really do not like them.
I've done $400 worth for market force this week. Agree these are easy and at $30 a piece I can do several a day after work. I've done a few for white clay and they are pretty reasonable also. I've done the ones for Jancyn and I realize they need a little more detail but don't mind doing them on a bonus. I've probably made over $2,000 this year just on mattress shops. I'm also in the market for a new mattress and at this point I think I'm mattress information overloaded!!
Tomorrow I'm going to be in a part of the metropolitan area I rarely get to, so while there I will do two Marketforce shops. They're MAO, but based on past experience I knew I wouldn't get more than the posted $25. I'll happily take $50 to subsidize the gas I will be using anyway.

One of my shops today was the worst I've ever done. I'm pretty sure that the associate was on something. He disappeared in the back for almost seven minutes, telling me to lay on the three mattresses up front while he was gone, and I could use my phone to scan the QR code and take the assessment.

When he came back he asked if I was a secret shopper, then spent the rest of the visit spewing random facts about the company and it's promotions "to make sure he hit all the spots". Never did offer a base presentation until I was walking out the door. At one point he tried to touch my phone to wake it up (I guess to prove I was recording him?). I asked him for a written quote. He insisted on setting me up in the system, then asked me to type all my contact information in.

It was really tough summarizing all the awfulness in 500 characters.

Mattress shops usually take more time due to the nature of a sales presentation. the one MFI does is a good deal at $25 because the reports do no not require the narrative that others do. I generally take those types of shops at 30-45. I like doing them I got too chatty and quipy with one sales person so he ID me as a mystery shopper. I was paid with no report, but dropped from getting notifications for jobs. Now, the scheduler emails me with bonused ones at the end of the month. So I can still do those.

You get to lie down for a while on the shop. With feet raised. On a comfy bed. Heck yeah! That's almost better than money! And I lay right there till they make me move to the next one.
At my worst mattress shop ever, the mattresses were filthy. I'm getting the heebie-jeebies just recalling how gross those mattresses were.

OK. Some more of the shops that had disappeared have now reappeared as available and are listed at $35 instead of $30.

Has anyone done one of these shops and can share some insight?
When possible, always give fake information. I think I have shopped every location of the mattress chain within 30 mi and I have a different name, phone number and address for each.
I shop locations in the less-busy strip malls. I've never had a bad experience. I try to arrive shortly after the store opens and I'm normally the only customer for the duration of my visit. There are only a few bullet points to remember and a couple of pics to take. I'm in and out in 30 minutes or less. The report is easy. $25 fee is acceptable to me. $35 is even better.
I did one years ago, the associate was sleeping when I walked in. I stayed about 20 mins till he finally woke up.

I have only done one or two others since then, they were more time consuming than I liked, but the pay is a little higher these days. Maybe I'll try MF's shops.
Hello, I have done 3 of the ACE mattress shops and found them to be not too hard and not too soft. smiling smiley And they paid for them all in a month.
