Amusement Advantage Theater Count

Hi all! I'm new to mystery shopping and wondering what others' experience with Amusement Advantage has been, especially the theater count jobs. It says the report only takes 15 mins, have you found that to be accurate? I've read their other reports can be very time consuming so just want to make sure. Also, do they pay on time? I have a bad taste in my mouth from a recent experience with Bestmark waiting on past-due reimbursements. Any insight would be appreciated! Thank you!!

Hi, oneluckeeladee, do you mind if I message you privately via this forum? I've done a few of these for Amusement Advantage and have been very happy with them. I want to give you a tip but the details are too specific for me to post openly even here. (I'm not going to name the client or the theater, and I think the odds are astronomical that someone from the theater would ever see this message, but better safe than sorry!)
@oneluckeeladee I've done this for Amusement Advantage as well, I'm not sure why anyone feels they can't post here. No one is going to know who you are. They pay promptly, and the report is easy as described.

I have an app on my phone I use for counting, it allows me to add and subtract as patrons enter and exit the auditorium, just position yourself where you can see the entrance, and then have your phone turned in the cup holder away from people and on the lowest light setting.

I will also use a memo note to pre-enter all my important notes ahead of time and leave blanks to just fill in as I go. It's just about 5 sentences for each section and can be easily answered, and they are not too particular on these, I keep waiting for more to pop up in my area.

I have done several counts for another company and the paperwork for that is more time-consuming than what Amusement Advantage is asking.
".They pay promptly, and the report is easy as described."

Indeed the only possible downside to these shops is having to purchase a ticket one by one for each showtime.
@Rho* It depends on which Amusement Advantage count you are doing.

You have the "Blind Checks" as they were referred to by another company where you have to count all day showings, and yes then you have to buy the tickets to each showtime, but those are the ones that pay well.
I did several of those for another company when they had them, Amusement Advantage caps the number of showtimes you can count, the other company did not so think about having to sit through Kong Skull Island, 15 times.......and so on. Luckily enough you are allowed to get up and leave.

Then Amusement Advantage offers, the Theater counts, where you only check one show, and you and your partner are seated in different sections of the same auditorium. That one you only have to buy tickets once, and you are separated from the person you came with, but still relatively easy, and you can you get either of these bonused, which I like about Amusement Advantage, because they often just sit there, as people are used to the other shops they offer.

I've been doing the Theater assignments for 11 years now and am glad they finally got into it.
Normally I would post, but I was going to share very specific details about how I handled the same employee selling me tickets to the same show three times in one day, especially as it was a movie a middle-aged woman might not be likely to see even once unless she was a shopper!
@amyann2 My Amusement Advantage had me and my husband both adults going to Raya the last dragon without any children. You would be surprised just how much theater staff don't really care, because most are teenagers, and most are tired of cleaning up after disrespectful patrons, or they get yelled at all day by rude patrons, I see it every weekend as I do my trailer checks.

Only once did I get a theater employee call us out after we had seen a feature 10 times in a day, and they said you have been here all day, I replied yep, and just kept on going. None of their business, I've done countless assignments that had me see way more features, Covert than what Amusement Advantage does. They cap your counts at 8 shows.

Try going to a show that has 10-15 showings and there is no way you remain covert, even though you alternate who buys the tickets at the window. You can take off out the side door after your required time, but you still have to come back for the next show, but I did find, that out of the countless ones I did, mind you, at the same theaters, that only one employee commented.

Lol, cybersst! Good point. :-) And man, that is a LOT of times to see the beginning of the same movie in one day!

I actually really enjoy the drive-in movie theater I've been doing. I park at the back, count the cars as they come in, and I only have to do one screen and stay 20 minutes into the last feature of the night on that screen. This theater only shows 2 movies per screen, so I can stay for the whole second movie or not, depending on if it's something I want to see.

Only problem is, you can't idle your car for air conditioning (which I agree with; it would be horrible if everyone was idling) and it's going to be in the triple-digits this weekend!
@amyann2 In that case I would pass on the Drive-Ins, I don't have any of those near me anyway, so I never had the opportunity to do those. They are on the west coast, I'm east coast. But in all fairness, I'm in FL, so it does get brutal for summer here too, and I could not stand that. I'll stick to the standard indoor Theaters, hahaha.
Thanks all for your helpful insight! I've never done a theater shop, but i'll have to give it a try. I was also curious about being noticed buying tickets 8 times...good to know they dont really care LOL if you have any suggestions for other companies I should check out for theater or entertainment shops, I would welcome it!

I highly recommend Amusement Advantage and have had great experiences with Erica and Shanna. They pay on time 100% of the time. The shops are not difficult and the theatre counts require much less verbiage. It does take a,few to get used to any company.
Ditto what ddeblois said. Amusement Advantage has been great to me, and Shanna is one of my all-time favorite schedulers.
