Ath Power Consulting and Checkbook.io

Has anyone dealt with payments from Ath Power? First time working with them and they sent payment through checkbook.io. I’ve been trying to deposit the cheque since a July 15th. Finally today I decided to do the print cheque option because apparently they couldn’t detect a chequing or savings account <insert eyeroll>. They have a note saying any cheque printed on paper is legal and blah blah blah. So I print it. And of course now I cannot deposit it. The bank is saying I need the original. I cannot go back and request for a cheque to be mailed. I am so upset. Ath power basically said if any issues with the payments to not contact them and to contact checkbook.io. And I did contact checkbook since Monday with no response. I emailed them and tried their online chat. Such a piss off. I will never take a job with this company again. Trying to save a few bucks instead of using PayPal like most companies.

Many yrs. ago, I accepted and completed a blue bank shop through ath. After submitting my report, I was informed I would not be paid as I had opened the wrong type of account. I appealed and forwarded the original letter from the scheduler. Their reply was that she had erred and denied my request for payment. Finally, I informed ath that their scheduler's error was not my problem and that if I were not paid, I would seek assistance from my new bank, their client. I immediately received my money.
Oh wow. It’s not right what some of these companies do. Maybe that will be my next step as these were bank shops. I submitted a ticket through their website, so will see.
Until I seen the company name come up here I had forgotten that years ago, I had also been doing the Blue Bank Shops in my area for this company. They owed me just $30 for 2 locations that were near me. The sent me a check in the mail and when I tried to cash it...it bounced. I ended up owing my bank a $10 return check fee (at the time) and they took back the amount of the check also.

It turns out they had switched banks at some point and printed the check from the wrong account. They paid me back my $10 fee, plus the $30 they owed me. So, in my case all turned out well. I just thought it was funny when even a $30 check wouldn't clear. I may still have the returned check in a file cabinet somewhere.

See, that’s really bad business. It’s good that they were able to fix it for you though. I’m just frustrated they said a printed cheque would work when it didn’t otherwise I would have requested a mailed cheque.
They responded and it’s an issue with deposit because I am in Canada. They re issuing me a cheque to be mailed. Thanks everyone for sharing your experience. I am happy this was resolved.
I think I have direct deposit set up with them. They send an image of a check as payment, but tell me when it will be deposited into my account. I haven't had any issues with them.

I like what Shopperbob did. No company should hose the shopper because of the mistake of their employee (within reason). If they said a job paid $500 by accident and you know it normally pays $50. Well I could see where they would say, they would only pay the $50 and the extra zero was a mistake. But in Shopperbob case, he opened the account the scheduler said he could and they wanted to penalize HIM for it.

I was just about to respond that it might be due to you not being in the US. My hint was the word checque rather than check. But you beat me to it. Glad you got it figured out. I guess most of the rules are based on how things work in the country where the main office is and those in other countries run into difficulties sometimes unforeseen by the originating company. I recently did a job for a company in S. America which presented some issues to me being in the US.

Out of curiosity, I just looked. As of today, I have completed 2084 shops for ath Power since 2008, and I have never had a problem getting paid for any of them. They have changed payment methods several times, and I always opt for direct deposit and provide whatever information their payment processing company wants.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
As stated in my update, it was an issue as I am cross border (in Canada); that is the issue. This was my first job and payment from them.
You are very detailed and observant. I would not gave caught on to the spelling difference being the issue.
I've never had any issues with payments from ath Power. When they changed to Checkbook.io, I set it up for direct deposit.
Yea again the issue has been resolved. The problem was because I am in Canada and nothing on their end. I received a cheque shortly after and no issues.
