Mystery Shopping Solutions spamming again

Just got email from them sent to several email addresses that I've used with MS companies over the years. I have my own domain and use different addresses at different sites, so I can tell when their database had been compromised. I got three emails sent to different addresses, but sadly only one was an address I used at a specific company, the others were generic addresses I've used. I don't understand why Matt insists on doing this, I've complained to him in the past and not gotten anywhere, so I just figured I'd post here. From prior discussions, it seems like he may run a legit business, but I really wish he would not resort to spamming.

I get offended whenever a scheduler who knows my MS email address shares it with MSS. I also think less of such schedulers and am less likely to shop for them if I let them know I object and they still try to justify what they did or tell me how great or legit MSS is.

I haven't communicated with Matt for many years because I have found it to be a total waste of time. His spiel used to be what he did was not spam. He had all sorts of BS reasons why it was not spam. He absolutely refused to remove my information from his database. Trying to reason with him was like asking a puddle of diarrhea not to stink.

Yes, trying to get schedulers (or Matt) to understand that sharing email addresses is a violation of the privacy policy posted on every MS company website is a waste of time.
Just got another one at an email address I have only used for the MSPA. So either he got it from them or from a scheduler who got it from them. Reported as spam.

Got one more and AOL/Verizon automatically put it in my spam folder. Did there used to be a MS company by the name of Quality Works or something like that? Because this email was sent to qworks@ my domain.
And one more addressed to the email i used for Service Evaluation Concepts. Fortunately, they're all ending up in my spam folder now.

Amusingly, the name in the To line is "First Last". I guess his mail merge isn't working too well.

Be nice if we could add an attorney specializing in chasing virtual spam to the directory. smiling smiley

Probably not worth it financially.

BTW, I'm up to eight copies now. One sent to an address I used exclusively at GFK. How did he get the addresses from companies? I suspect he got these a while ago and just crawls out from under his rock every few years and respams his list.
I finally got an email and it went to my spam folder! Yay!

Was this the email you got?

Dear Mystery Shopper:

Although it seems like it was a lifetime ago that Covid hit, it was actually a little more than 2 years ago that Mystery Shopping pretty much ground to a halt.

About 2 years ago, a group of our trusted partners gave us the email addresses for their mystery shoppers so that we could try to be prepared for Mystery Shopping to start up again. A lot of the Covid restrictions have been removed, and Mystery Shopping is coming back.

We are not sure if you are still doing Mystery Shopping, but we have noticed that you are not registered as a mystery shopper in our shopper database.(it's free)

If you would like to register in our shopper database, please go to: [www.mystshopsol.com].

If you either are no longer Mystery Shopping, or would rather not receive any future communication from us, please Click Here to be unsubscribed from this list.

Thank you!

Matt Corrow

There is no way I am going to respond to this spam in any way. Some spammers use Unsubscribe links to spam more, not less. If you try to unsubscribe, that's confirmation to spammers that they have your current email address.
Yeah, that's the one. But the line about getting the addresses two years ago is BS, since I found emails I'd sent to him in 2012 and 2016 complaining about his spamming.
Got more emails from him today, pushing Amusement Advantage (in my spam folder, of course). The emails now include an unsubscribe link, so I tried that, putting variations of "you are in a spammer" n the reason for unsubscribing box. Does anyone know someone at Amusement Advantage who we can alert to the fact that they are doing business with a spammer who is sending their email to emails that he did not legally obtain?

The thing that really annoys me about him (other than emailing me in the first place) is that he didn't just send a single email to the addresses that he obtained and stop. The proper (if we want to stretch that term) thing to do would be a single email, let the person have the option to sign up, and never write to them again if they do not. But obviously that's not what he does. He takes the lists he obtains and keeps using it, even though he has not been given permission to continue to send emails. And until now, there wasn't even an unsubscribe link. Let's see if he honors the request.

.

I got that too. I was already a AA shopper. I searched the whole East Coast including Boston, NY, Baltimore and couldn't find any of the shops they supposedly had available.

I e-mailed him asking, not realizing this was part of what was going on. He said it must just be my area.

Then later in the day i got an e-mail stating I had successfully unsubscribed from www.mystshopsol.com.

I guess that's so he can get credit for recruiting me for www.mystshopsol.com now?

I found a thread here with a job posted by AA and added this comment. I chose not to include the company's name in it.

Cynthia, are you aware that there is a company that just sent out a spam mailing asking people to sign up for your company? They use email addresses that they did not obtain legally. It's not a good look for your company.
Just got another one at a stolen email address. Amusing how they claim I signed up for their newsletter, but that is not true, and certainly not at that address, which was only used at one MS company. No unsubscribe link in this one.

You have registered for our shopper newsletters, but may not have registered in our shopper database.
If so, you may be missing valuable opportunities(not all opportunities are sent through our newsletter system).

This! Setting up filtering rules are the way to go.

Main inbox is near-zero, and have no hesitation on getting spammed by schedulers these days since it’s all in it’s own folder automatically.
Actually, all of their emails go automatically into my spam folder these days. Presumably, this is true for all AOL/Verizon customers.

Yes, Verizon/AOL are (is?) treating his emails as spam now, which makes me very happy. Hopefully his newsletters go there as well.
Got another one addressed to an email I only used at Service With Style. Coincidentally, I recently received an email from them about a shipper referral program, so I had the address of someone to write to there. I forwarded the email and asked if she had any idea how he got my address, pointing out that their site's privacy policy says that they will not share information with third parties.
Just got another set of emails, and they have predictably ignored the unsubscribe requests. But good news, the person at SWS confirmed that she also gets their spam, and that they never gave him their list.
Nevermind. My question was answered.
