Wow. I do a lot of car shops, but there are a few out there that are over the wall of reason and have a permanent place on my ten-foot-pole list. This one probably qualifies for that list.

How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg?

I took this one. I'm going to return the car and make about a thousand dollars. I've done it before, not a big deal but they are reimbursing for any fees that don't get reimbursed. Including prorated insurance. If you were already buying a car from them, it's a good way to get a nice chunk, but this particular company allows you to return the car for any reason within a set period of time.
That sure puts things in a different perspective, @foodluvr

I saw this one and took a hard pass. I didn't realize you can return the car. I like cars and car-shopping, so if I see it again, I'll try one. As long as there's no hassle with returning it. If a person is in need of a car anyway, this would be a great shop!

They're very good about returning. That being said, if you're not looking to keep the car, you either need to pay cash or be willing to hit credit and deal with financing. I'm fine with paying cash and getting it back.
I would do this shop if I was in the market for a new car. Of course the fee would have to be substantial.

The first time I did it for the other MSC I had to videotape everything and that was a headache. I also had to do several follow-up conference calls with the client.

This time I'm strictly taking screenshots and reporting on the delivery. No videotape required and no follow-up conference calls. Still making a nice fee after negotiating it.
I saw them and I thought it would be really cool if I could afford to buy a car right now.
There are other shops like this such as ones where you do something inflight or be inside Disneyland etc. You are required to have a plane ticket you paid for and a flight scheduled or a Disneyland tic etc to do the shop. Most of these shops are geared towards someone who expects to buy the item anyway and they do find shoppers who are doing so and want to defray some of their costs. This one seems has a return approved so that is a bonus.
I saw this one and really wished I was in the market for a car!

Just out shopping around...
Wow, I work in a car dealership (accounting), so from my perspective, I would feel horrible spending all that time with a salesperson, only to turn around and return the vehicle which would reverse his commission.
It's the place with the car vending machines, so I don't know how much interaction there is with a salesperson, or even it they are on commission.
A car vending machine? I still have not gotten over Sprinkles having a cupcake vending machine. I cannot imagine a car vending machine!!!
Google it and look at Googe images. They're pretty cool looking. There is one south of Pittsburgh that you can see from the interstate.

TigerDave- Haven't you heard?...MSC's and Car salesmen were born from the same slime bucket! It is hard to believe that anyone would ever feel sorry for a car salesperson!
Because of this why I do car shops I take only the time required per the guidelines. Poor person could be missing a real sales opportunity. It's definitely not me.

I had to return a car once (at a regular dealer, not Carvana), and in the beginning I felt kind of bad, but they were so obnoxious, I didn't care by the time the whole thing was done. I bought through the AARP car-buying program, and they guaranteed you could return the car. Thank goodness I did that!
