Marketforce panel survey

I started to read all the what, why, etc. and my eyes glazed over. Anyone agree to submit their information on this? Not really sure why Marketforce feels the need for this.

I deleted it. I wasn't sure if it was legit or not.

I saw it. When I realized it was an unpaid survey...delete.

I laughed and deleted it. I might take a survey for pay, but not for the chance to win a gift card. Nice try, Market Force.

I took it. No biggie. One of my early MS assignments that wasn't MS'ing at all was exit surveys at Lowe's. I had to stop people on the way out the door and ask about their shopping experience. I don't know if those shops are still around or not. I don't even remember the MSC. I always kind of liked market research, but I don't know that I have never seen a survey pay. I take a Market Force assignment every now and then. I like them just fine, some of my favorite shops actually, so I took their survey.

I was a bit curious, so I did look at it briefly. It got deleted within 20 seocnds.
The major area of expertize for Market Force are such surveys. If you will explore their web page you will discover that they doing such surverys for living too.

I've got that email 3 times now oh my and I've reported it as Spam every time. It doesn't look like any market force emails that I ever got before, so I'm not taking any chances.
I took it. It looks to me as if they might be doing research in order to pick up new clients--which might be good for shoppers in the long run. I have a background in marketing, so for me this is something that I know can benefit not only the companies themselves but their clients, customers, and vendors (us). It took just a few minutes--fewer than 10. They've been giving me good fees; I figured it's not a big deal to do this.

It's funny -the survey everyone in this industry deleted took less time to take than their post about deleting it.

Ok.

It is a favor to them -sure, and if it's good for them it might be good for us later. If they get enough data points and grab some clients -that's good, right?

No biggie either way. It costs very little for us to fill out, and the potential gains are also pretty low -so it's a wash.
As much as we might not want to "give" away any of our time, when you're a self-employed individual, you often need to in order to reap new business, enhance old, or do your own market research to see what's going on in your field. Not all of your time is going to be billable. That being said, if you don't want to do surveys, I get it. But to the principle of the thing, it's a little disconcerting (maybe only to me) that many SE individuals seem unwilling to spend a few minutes of uncompensated time. In most other areas, that wouldn't fly. Then again, I guess mystery shopping isn't exactly like other self-employment businesses. But in many ways it is. If you want to build your business, you spend some unpaid time doing it. That doesn't apply to this survey, but I'm thinking of this in principle, not hard terms.

I didn't think this was a big deal, either, but I was annoyed because Market Force kept emailing.
In Nov., I begin my 60th yr. of self-employment. If any company desires my time for surveys that will profit them, as in poker, an ante-up is required. Just as MSCs do not have freebies, neither does Bob. As the old adage goes, though, to each his/her own.
Thank you Tanischri. To the best of my recollection, no one has ever extended such a compliment to me.

Helena,

You folks certainly know how to bring a smile to an oldster's face; thank you for your kindness.

That's started to bother me, too, so I replied to one of them and explained I'd already done the survey. Well, human eyes must have read it because the emails stopped.

Supposing a well-designed survey for a MSC and which is responded to robustly ends up gaining the MSC a new client and you many new paying jobs for them. Sure, it profits them, but it profits you, too. Would that not have been time well spent?

Aside from surveys, are you simply just opposed to extending no-charge time to clients? Playing devil's advocate here.

As Birdy included my response in her post, it appears her question is directed to me.

I am a very logical person and as such, I literally abhor "what ifs." As such, my business activities are geared toward realism. If a company desires my effort, show me the cash. Chances to win a gift card from an MSC do not interest me. To paraphrase Clara Peller, she of the 80s burger commercials, "Where's the money?"
Yes, I admire shopperbob's consistency.

The good fee is gooing not from marketing department. Marketing is not aware that you are mystery shopper.

I decided to complete a second survey! (The minimal time commitment didn't bother me, because I was on hold waiting for 'a representative who will be with you shortly'.)
