Market Force and cancellations

I just accepted a shop from MF and had to cancel because I will have my child with me. It did not indicate anywhere in the description that I had to be alone. I had to accept the job and read the guidelines to see this. I wrote them an email and cancelled the job. This would have been my first job with them. Do you think I have a "black mark" on my record now. I would think this info would be in the description. I take my child on almost all my shops without a problem in most cases.

Usually there is a checkbox that says you will go alone and not bring children with you. It wasn't this time? It is for all the ones I do.
Hopefully you cancelled the shop shortly after it was awarded to you and acknowledged your error in taking it. I have generally found them to be reasonably reasonable.
I did cancel about 5 minutes later. They pointed it out to me. Oh well. I will try again soon when something comes up again that I can do. What are ya going to do??
I have had nothing but good luck for the most part with MarketForce. I email the help desk prior to canel any shop and get help at times.
I was called and BEGGED to do some shops. The scheduler was really nice so I accepted. This will be my last round of shops for 2 reasons.

1. One of the schedulers told me that when you constantly give perfect scores, the system will deactivate you. (Had to ask, I had heard it hear). Their reasoning is that "NO ONE is perfect"

2. I had a shop questioned by one of their fast food shops. see following

Your report states that your carhop was not wearing a name tag. Sometimes nametags are covered by jackets or pony tails, or the employee stands at an odd angle, making the nametag impossible to see. Are you sure that the nametag was not covered by anything such as hair or a fold of fabric?
Did you get a good view of the carhop's upper torso?

My response was... It is 100 degrees here and the person was not wearing a jacket or name tag. Duh this is fast food, the hair was pulled back under a cap.
I have found that 8 out of 10 shops for MF are done alone. Unless you are doing an "walk on water" shop for MF, U need to go it alone.

Just letting U in on a word up.
This one was my oversight completely.

On another note, does anyone do the fast food shops for this company? I have a ton of them by me but $7.50 seems kinda cheap when you are required to sit in the store for at least 15 min and cannot bring your child. I am so tempted to take them but feel like it will be a waste of time.
I do them as a fill in for when I am on a route/schedule for an entire day. And I only pick the ones that you sit in. I did the drive up and then dining room once, I was the only customer there and know that the same guy who did the drive in and then the dining room knew. After that, no. And I only go when they call with more than 7.50.
That is good to know, thanks! I have seen them go up to as much as $15.00 but of course never in my area. I guess I might try one just to see if I can do them as filler. I have a Taco Bell shop coming up with another company and the manual is 20 pages!! I am kinda having regret but will suck it up and see how it goes.
Save the food for Ur child. Kids love the chicken and potatos. Let him know b/c he can't go with you, you'll be brining him back something.

Remenber , "We only have to TASTE it." "Did it taste fresh?" "Was the sandwich appealing/" Was the potato hot?"

In 20 minutes one is observing the professionalism of the staff, cleaniless of the store and checking out he RR. Out like a bandit, and the food is still hot/warm for Ur child.

I just had that happen as well. This was their higher end burger joint. Got begged to take the shop, promised me the moon. I went to do the shop, it was horrible-meat was the size of a small sausage patty, staff lounging on the counters, pre-cooking and stacking, etc. Not anything remotely positive about this shop-I was stunned.

A relative brought the kids in after I was done and I sat with them while they ate. Now MFI is claiming I've been identified and that I was sitting there bad-mouthing the product and store while I was in there. UH-not stupid here, roll the video.

I am so tired of MF. It's amazing that they dislike always positive shops, because damn, you turn in anything that leans to the negative and it's on like Donkey Kong. They (and allegedly, the clients) will do anything and everything to invalidate that negative shop. If they rip me for over $30 in fees and reimbursements, I'm done. They already got me in January for about $25.

Plus, it's just suspicious to me that invalidation never seems to happen on a normally paid shop, only the heavily bonused ones.
I've never had a bonus shop disallowed. I rarely have follow up questions on shops. I have had one shop rejected--my best judgment said I had best not do something that was required and it turned out to be a 'hard requirement' rather than one they could compromise on. I have had one shop rejected because the instructions were wrong and "you should have questioned it". Huh?? We split the difference on that one--they reimbursed but they did not pay the fee. Overall I turn in what I observe and they leave me alone and throw money at me by direct deposit. It doesn't get much sweeter than that except when the pay is higher.
I don't look at requests for clarification as deal breakers. I have been asked questions that were not asked in the report - why didn't the car hop use the credit card machine at the stall? I haven't been stiffed and for the most part, have no communication following submission. When I am contacted though, it's been to the point, understandable and cordial.

We all want the same thing, to put it to bed and get paid.

I don't have a problem with those, either. I get them occasionally on more complex shops, particularly financial ones, from other MSCs. I have gotten maybe 6-8 from these guys out of over 100-mostly because they wanted a detail clarified and each was pleasant and targeted for the issue for the most part. The last one that resulted in an invalidation started out the same way this one did-very accusatory tone.
Marketforce is a GREAT company. I've worked for them for about 10 years. Except I won't do the fast ood drive in & walk up - not worth $7.50. But they have great restaurant shops.

Ditto to you, silentthunder. Your post has the quoted text which includes the names of both the client and MSC.

I had this happen with another company and yes, it was hugely bonused and I definitely felt like that had everything to do with why it was rejected on a technicality*. Now, I realize I may be being paranoid, and maybe it's true that they couldn't use the shop . . . but it was one that was way out of my comfort zone to begin with, and I was MAD.

(*They wanted me to stay in the store for a certain length of time--but I had done EVERYTHING the shop required, and was the only person in the store . . . had I stayed longer, it would have appeared extremely suspicious.)
I thought I had been "fired" from Market Force or put on a probation period.
But I today I signed up again.
THe reason was is that I had not completed two assignments.

I think this company is just so big and there are two many "chiefs in charge"

THe communication between the shoppers and the schedulers is not good.

I think they should also pay a bit more for all the work that I have done.
Well Romeo, I love Market Force (purple). They give me lots of projects and i find the schedulers to be great. They havealways answered me quickly. I'm sorry you have a bad taste in your mouth with them and I hope things work out

Does one have to apply and separately sign up for each of the portals. I signed up for the blue and can't seem to access the purple. When I tried with the provided info, it says that it is not valid.
I would just do what the instructions ask you to do. Shopping companies only bite you when provoked.

"Get outta my way kid, ya botherin me." (Old movie, famous line.)
G3B--yes, you have to apply separately for each. And if I remember correctly, the logins are different, too. I use Firefox, so most of my logins are saved, but it's fun times trying to keep track.

Thanks, I will apply and see what they have available. Great another login to add to the collection..... But yes you are right, Firefox is good to remember most of them except for some that I have not gone to in a while and then it forgets and I have to look for my original welcome email from the MSC.
