Holmes and Watson - feedback? (formerly Guest Check)

Has anyone completed any jobs with Holmes and Watson? I see they also used to be Guest Check in the past? Look for any feedback about working with them. Thank you!

Have you happened to do any shops with them? My friend has applied for one and there’s a ton of cash outlay. I’m hesitant because I’ve never heard them mentioned. I told my friend to look for some feedback so I’m helping. Lol.

I had written them a question and didn’t get a response. My friend is contemplating a job with some hefty expenses so I’d love to find some info. I guess I’m in the verify before trust when it comes to money.

I did not have a good experience with them. I was contacted by a scheduler asking me to do a dining shop at a casino. The exact address was not listed but the casino name and state was. I agreed and was then required to do an over the phone training. Written guidelines were sent via email, not accessed through the company website. During the hour long call the name of the casino was mentioned several times, but never the exact address. I didn't think anything of it. When I logged in to start the report on the way home (using my phone) the website didn't show the full address as the site was not 'mobile optimized'. When I got home and opened it on my computer I saw that the address was over 5 HOURS away from me. This casino has two locations in my state (I personally was only aware of one, but then again I'm not a gambler). One location was at the southern border of my state, in an area that is typically VERY hard to fill most shops & the other at the northern.

100% my fault for not verifying the address, but I have to wonder why the city name wasn't included in any email or phone conversation......

Well, that certainly sounds less than optimal! I hope you weren’t out a ton in non reimbursed expenses.

I’ve only had a couple of tiny snafus (ordering food online and the location wasn’t clear) where a shop couldn’t be used. I was irked at the time but it was a cheap purchase and I enjoyed the food. I’d be crazy upset if I was out a ton doing a shop and had an issue.

I’m sure it’s a part of working in this industry but I’m still a little cautious.

Pretty sure that's their whole business model.
I completed the job and they agreed to pay me. It's been over a month and I have not been paid yet. I have been keeping in contact with Dana Goergen about payment, and she promised to pay me but when I write to her asking if she has sent out my check yet, I do not get a response. I am starting to think that this company is a scam. Will keep you updated about if she ever pays me.
That's too high-end for me. Financial risk is not my policy. I would, personally, request an advance for a casino or hotel shop, just for a thrifty wardrobe update. Then, payment or non-payment would not be an issue. Thank you for the heads up on this MSC.
Dana bought Guest Check about a year ago. My friend did a couple of Florida hotels for her and was paid timely, as recently as last month.

There should be an escrow system for MSPs to deposit money for those four- and five-figure outlay shops. A shopper should be able to see that there’s money in a third-party bank account to pay them before a huge outlay.
