SAY WHAT??? bankruptcy? some beach... i am heading their more than once a week... lol... j/k
no surprise... grain prices have risen, sugar has risen, both by as much as 2%floods are up in the farm lands from missippi to wisconsin... droughts are making it hard on millions of people...
2/3 of the world spend 90% of their earnings on food...a lot cant afford the extra food prices, and more money to be made makes food a more valuable commodity and thus a target for crime and corruption
americans spend about 6% on average for food... AVERAGE mind you... this has fallen from 30% average during pre wwII...
just found out corn has gone up by 250% since 2003.. which makes average growth 31.25% a year... some are calling it the new "gold"... anything else get a return of that a year? NO! (ethenol and a more prevelant western diet of meat and bread are labeled the causes)... prices used to vary on corn futures by 5 cents on a crazy day... now it is 23 cents on average... if you think that is not a lot corn sells for $4.50 a bushel... that is about 4% up or down on a given day... to see this in context that would be a gain/loss on the dow of 450 points EVERY day which is HUGE!!
