I've mystery shopped Five Guys for 8 and a half years. Locations all over the US.
Today was my 50th visit...so about 1 shop every other month or about 6 per year. The price was only slightly
above reimbursement.
I've made a lot of noise in the past about their pricing - because I think they're over priced for what they offer,
but now looking over their operation, I am inclined to say that ev
I waiting to see if Dutch Brothers coffee drive thrus pop up as shops....
Has anyone seen them? It's good to see Starbux and Dunkin starting to get a run for their money.
Coffee is one of the only vices I have left.
It's escaping me now and it may have changed, but didn't the FG report ask for ethnicity in the cashier description? I seem to remember that...I know for certain one of popular shops did.
IMHO, we are either now or rapidly approaching the point in the US, where unless it's very obvious, most of us would only be guessing - and that can't lead to anything positive at all.
A TXRH location that I've shopped several times, caught fire yesterday and shut down.
They're not sure when they will reopen.
According to the news, it was caused by a grease vent that was overdue for a cleaning.
New report format forthcoming:
"What did you see when you crawled up to look at the grease vent?"
LOL...joking.
Do you plan to watch? this year only or do you watch every year?
I enjoy it, seems like an American institution....and watching two equally matched teams is almost always
a great time.
menu?
probably some wings here...maybe some chips and dip (I am always reminded of Pete Campbell whenever I say chips and dip lol)
Thanks for the heads up. Do you or anyone here, have any clues about the MSC for this one? not sure I know what the magic app is - simple clue would be appreciated.
I had pizza too....
Abundant sunshine here yesterday, temps were cold, but all that sun, when you are in it..made things
nice and warmish.
Ran a bunch of errands.
Not much of an appetite all day.
Stopped at local pizzeria for one slice of what they call here "grandma pizza" (cheese on bottom, sauce on top)
iced coffee, couple pieces of the blackest European licorice to settle my stomach
soup making
and trip planning, need to book a car rental
only 2 more weeks until I break out of the deep freeze....
and I will be free as a bird in the sunshine....
looking forward to that....life has been a challenge lately
purple....that was quite the story.....I felt like I was watching a movie when I read it....so glad it all turned out ok...wow....and I hope that wad of cash was enough for all that he put you through. I am sure you needed rest when that was all over.
I haven't considered the driver's perspective.....here's a naive question - there is no way to screen potential customers?
I've had a couple
My doctored ramen soup that turned out like Asian restaurant quality.
So simple to make, warmed me up.
Chicken broth
soft boiled egg
baby spinach leaves
shredded carrot
ramen noodles
hoisin sauce
chili crisp sauce
siracha sauce
There's a scheduler many of us here know, who is prone
to shut down shoppers who have to cancel a shop, for any reason.
I was able to get my own profile revived when the MSC was in strong need to get a particular shop done.
This morning, in my email, I find a message the scheduler has sent out
to everyone - about shops that need to get done, presumably not yet done because
of the weather..
Based on the forecast, I am guessing my tires won't be hitting any pavement at least until about Thursday.
Good time to work on personal biz I guess...stuff I always say I will do when I get around to it.
Play around with my new homemade ramen recipes
Try not to watch too much news. My take on the recent news:
There are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks when decades h
Over the years, I've become boring in terms of income....
but not that long ago or farther back, I could be found doing some nutty or dicey or maybe even clever type work, depending on your perspective - lol....
You as well?
I was just remembering the time that one of the points apps was paying people $200 bucks to sign up with DoorDash and do at least one delivery.
So I did. I signed up
I did a shop that freaked me out a little last week. A Sunoco...where I am staying now is a very nice town
maybe because this on an interstate?
The whole cashier area was completely sealed off with bullet proof glass. I could barely see the guy and then he peeped out from a little hole which I used to hand him the money.
Bongs and pipes and kratom everywhere as far as the eye could see....
So funny the differences...here where I am, we get winter every year lol - though usually the forecasts aren't so dire....grocery stores and gas stations were tame yesterday, no one rushing or grabbing... but we're used to snow, so that's it.
My biggest thing has been running around to charge up the power banks. I can handle cold and having to stay inside - it's losing power that really really i
Any of you ever notice that some people refer to women as females, but I NEVER see anyone refer to men as males, as in:
"I saw this male and he was..."
You just never see that, or have you ever? if so, where?
Men are just referred to as men, human men.
Looks like a lot of us are going to be facing rough weather over the next several days....
not just very cold, but snow and ice and wind and whatever.
Be well and stay safe...
Maybe there'll be shop bonuses after this is over....for all the shops that don't get done in the coming week.
Just trying to look at the bright side.
Oh and the sun rose yesterday in Barrow Alaska for the first ti
yes, 4 groceries for 7K does seem a lot, but I didn't paint the full picture.
The 7K town is surrounded by several 1K and 2k and 3K towns that have NO grocery stores....
So they draw from a larger population than I originally described....
Since I first posted about it - things have grown contentious, some of the townspeople believe the groceries should be personally delivered to the eld

tea and coffee to stay warm.
On the plus side, I just found a nearby restaurant that has happy hour on Wednesdays - one buck oysters on the raw bar. I can make a whole meal on a dozen. I love them.
