Re: Shell shops - 7 days ago

I think the instructions for all gas station shops are the same. First pump gas, second check the rest room, third make a purchase in the C-store. (Get both receipts). Then reveal. Then put on your safety vest for the rest of the inspection. Good advice from sestrahelena about the vest.

Veterans are the lucky ones. Many have not come back whole. They deserve a thank you for their service.

Re: Gas Station Inspection Pushback - 5 weeks ago

Unfortunately, it comes with the job. But fortunately, it is a rare occurrence. No doubt you got over it by the time you reached your next shop and hopefully, found a pleasant attendant.

I would trespass myself from that site.

No to both - even if it could be included in a route.

No, but they prevent verbal explanations.

Re: Gas Station Inspection Pushback - 8 weeks ago

Two were the same grumpy old man. The first one he refused to provide a key for the rest room and told me he was too busy for an inspection, and I should come back tomorrow. I responded that I didn't need him to complete the inspection and I can't come back tomorrow. I further advised him that I would take a picture of the counter and an overall picture and submit a report giving his name and des

Re: Gas Station Inspection Pushback - 2 months ago

I've been doing gas stations for 14 years, thousands at this point and had 3 severe pushbacks. None I could not handle.

Re: QR Codes on Fuel Pumps - 4 months ago

One of the selections to question 7 is political stickers, unauthorized decals or unauthorized QR codes. That should cover it.

Re: Gas station shops for $3.50? - 10 months ago

You've got to be kidding! Let's say the gas station is 5 miles, 4 pumps and it takes 15 minutes one way and 20 to 30 minutes to take the pictures. Total time 50 to 60 minutes, plus the report. According to my calculations that's $2.53 per hour, considering gas and auto maintenance. Are you sure you placed the decimal point correctly and it's not $35.00?

Re: BP/Amoco Shops - the Latest Round - 1 year ago

FF, I had the same problem - getting my debit card rejected after 2 shops. I found that it was the banks policy, so I had a discussion with a manager in a different bank that I dealt with. Their policy is different, and I have used my debit card up to 8 times without it getting rejected. I much prefer using a debit card to a credit card as, in most cases, debit is the same price as cash and credi

Re: Valero - 2 years ago

I just read through the LOA. The last sentence of the 1st paragraph advises "A leave-behind of the 2024 Evaluation Form is enclosed". Being as the LOA is presented before the inspection is complete and the leave behind is enclosed with the LOA, it is a blank form. I don't understand the purpose.

Re: Valero - 2 years ago

I last did Valero several years ago and I think pump photos were required. The current guidelines say the required photos are: overall site, MID, building, Diesel & alternate pumps, EV stations, forecourt and restroom. No indication of gas pumps. The "leave behind" document is new since I last did Valero. There are 51 questions to be answered. Is that supposed to be completed and left with th

Yeh, I got a promo package last year, including an imprinted vest. Can't remember what happened to it. I'm waiting for the glow in the dark propeller beanie.

Re: Heads Up! A New E/M Requirement! - 2 years ago

With E/M I had been sending a 2nd photo of the gas receipt circling "duplicate receipt" but the last one was rejected saying a photo of the screen is needed. Fortunately I've made a habit of taking a photo of the bezel area, just in case, on the pump used after taking the required overall pic. That apparently keeps the editors happy, although I think it is a ridiculous request. But what do I know

Re: Shop rejected for not calling the gas station. No where on the form does it ask if you called - 2 years ago

I would take it a step higher and get a supervisor involved. You got a 10 on the shop and of course you called in advance.

Re: Shop rejected for not calling the gas station. No where on the form does it ask if you called - 2 years ago

If it's an E/M station one of the questions does ask if you called the station to check open hours.
