Can I really make $1,000 doing this?

I found an ebook on Kindle and am wondering what you think -- Can I really make $1,000 a month doing this? It looks like it has most of the basics in one place and it's pretty cheap. Anybody heard of it: [www.amazon.com]

I haven't read the twenty three page publication you're referencing so "no comment" on that, but I am familiar with mystery shopping. Yes, you can make $1,000 a month doing this. No, it is not easy. No, it is not fun. No, it is not yummy. It's a job and you're in charge. For detailed information, read this forum.

What's the name of the book and who is the author?

I wasn't going to click on the link. The book referred to this as fun, easy and yummy? Our favorite codes words for cheap and not worth the timewinking smiley

Yes, you can make $1000 per month once you really get your business going and work hard. You will need to sign up with 100 to 200 MSCs (mystery shopping companies) to do it.

Head on over to the New Mystery Shoppers area of this forum and read the first 11 topics there. No need to buy the book; info and advice is free here.

Lisa, I didn't buy the book but I clicked on the link and saw it was a 23 page ebook for $2.99. The words fun, easy, and yummy were my own contribution because we've seen them so often in job offers. I don't remember the title or the author.

I know you better than that Marywinking smiley I thought maybe it was used somewhere in the description. It would have to be short description of the book if the whole thing is only 23 pages.

Yes, you can make $1000 a month. On my first month I made around $700 and after my second month $1000, that is my monthly goal. I do not shop full time, I do not work every day and I am a stay home mom. Easy? No it is not! Fun? Sometimes...
I bought the book and found some good stuff. The author has a cool "cheat sheet" template that looks like it would make organizing shops a little easier. I'm going to sign up with some companies this week.
Sure you can make $1000/month - if you do the work in an area that has enough available jobs. Just remember every business is different.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
Much depends on geographic area, where I live $1000 per month is impossible. Just not enough shops in this rural part of the country and no large cities within 120 miles.

I'm fairly new at this compared to some (about a year) and as I've stated going hard the last few months. I also live in NY where shops are unlimited. I made about $700 in 10 days on my days off and after work. It wasn't easy and I was tired but it was all done. I'm trying to stash money for a goal and I'm trying to go strong until March. I'm learning a lot along the way.
I'm currently at $936 for the month and I took four days off from shopping. I shop after work or during my lunch break.

You are pretty much only limited by how far you're willing to go and how long you want to work, how often, what kind of shops, etc.

------------------------------------------------
Plan the work. Work the plan.
It's also important to differentiate between gross earnings and NET earnings!

I'm a rural, route shopper and my typical route is a round robin of about 120 miles. During that route I will shop between 4 to 7 shops. I drive a gas guzzler by necessity and spend a minimum of $30 per trip on gas. So, I have to make a minimum of $50 to break even (don't forget wear and tear on the vehicle, lunch, etc.). So I look at my gross, take out for gas and lunch and that's my net. Yesterday I netted $130 on a 75 mile route and only 4 shops! For me, that is a GOOD day! I'll worry about taxes later!

Out here in the sticks, a more reasonable net is about $50 a day. Out here, USPS, grocery stores and fast food are my bread and butter. I get the higher paying bank shops about 1 or 2 days a month. Retail specialty shops are rare, chain restaurants are nonexistent. I would love to broaden my territory, but it's always about the gas!

My advice to beginner shoppers, watch your NET profit, not your GROSS income!
That's why I always love the mall that is near my full time job. Even if it is a low paying retail shop, if I can walk and spend no gas, the net is the same as going out to the suburbs and getting a higher paying one. Plus I love getting a couple of miles walk in (to and from combined) and getting paid for it. I did see this same mall on the board as a mall walking shop but this time, it only paid $10 which is not worth my time to write the report. The last time I did a mall walking shop, it was out in the suburbs (so did have gas expense) but it paid $40!

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
Last month I made over $1000 with just 2 MSC's.

This month is slower. About $700

It'll pick up. smiling smiley
Even working part time, you can pick up $1,000. It all depends on how hard you want to work, how many assignments you take, and which assignments you choose. Of course, you will be limited by the location where you live and the number of competitor shoppers in your area.
When I have a day off I can make a LOT of money. I just don't have enough time to complete all the reports. Sometime I have to slow down to get everything done correctly.
I worked 8 days in the month of August. I made $400. not including a $40 lunch and a $10 lunch. All close to my home.
I took off for vacations, and the beach. I do mostly shops with bonuses and banking. This was the slowest month I have ever worked in five years.

I don't have to work to make an income.

I give all of you shoppers who work full time and do routes a ton of credit. I know how hard you work and how time consuming the job is for little pay. How aggravating it can be if you miss one little detail and an editor gives you a hard time.
