College and Mystery Shopping..?

i am an official college student this Fall and am looking into mystery shopping.

Is it possible, do you think, to be both a student and a shopper? I want to be committed to both if possible, but (if from experience or not) do you think this idea is realistic?

Thank you for any help!

There are many parameters to that question.

I know that some folks do mystery shop while in college, but I have no way of knowing whether their school is very rigorous and whether they are challenged by their studies (which they should be to get the most bang for their tuition buck). Most students in college have some kind of job, whether it is on campus, off campus or something like babysitting faculty brats. In all of these endeavors, the student needs to make sure that classes and classwork take priority over anything else because their education is not only costing them more than they are likely to be earning at any of these other jobs, but excellent performance in school will impact their lifetime earnings.
Teyla, it is definitely possible to be both a student and a shopper. Actually, I think it would be a great opportunity for you to learn to do more than one thing at a time and do both of them well. Most of the time everyone is doing more than one thing. For you it would be going to school and mystery shopping. For someone else, it could be running a household, caring for young children, and holding down a full time job. You could look on a part time career in mystery shopping as just another educational opportunity. As long as you pace yourself and put your formal education first, learning to mystery shop and earning money to supplement yourself can only be a positive.

Mystery shopping and college are absolutely compatible. The nature of taking only the mystery shopping jobs you want when you want to do them allows you to fill off-time on your schedule. You can work a lot during school breaks, less during the term, and not at all during exam time. The choice is yours.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
During the regular school year I usually put off shopping unless it's a quick shop or something that I was going to do anyways. I have another job that was on my campus before I transferred and it worked very well for me. The shops I get usually are restaurant shops or a movie theater. This helps me go to try different places while not spending my own money. Try getting something on campus and do shopping on the side; this way you will have income and still be able to splurge. Good luck smiling smiley
