Experienced NC shopper, new to forum & video

Hi,
Mystery shopping has been my on-the-side gig for nearly five years. Photojournalist is my 'day job'. By now, I've done over 1,000 written shops with about 30 different companies. Video equipment was delivered this week. I'm looking for suggestions on V-MSCs and travel and hospitality/travel companies. Thanks!

Welcome Jack. For the five top video MSCs, hop on over the VSN [www.videoshoppingnetwork.org] There you will find a list of member companies, as well as instructions for making and uploading a short test video to be assessed by them.

In addition, in this forum, just do a "search" on "video" for "last year" and you will find several threads that will be of interest to you, including some about avoiding a video MSC that has failed to pay a number of shoppers for accepted video product.

What video equipment did you purchase?

Good. Some people buy stuff on line that won't meet the industry satndards! Good luck.

Thanks. I signed up with the Shadow Agency months ago. I applied for several phone shops with them and then a video shop after I got the equipment. The video shop fell off my assignment list as it got assigned to someone else, but the phone evals are still there, even though it is only a couple days until their due date. That has happened every time I apply with them. Do I have to call these folks to let them know I am a serious evaluator? What do I have to do to get an assignment from them?

Jack,
Sometimes clients cancel shops, especially when they find out that a target will be on leave. Since video shops are more likely to be targeted, this happens somewhat more often. I urge you to use the VSN site to submit a test video! That will show that you are serious.

VSN wants a 1-2 minutes video. What are they looking for? Any advice on best practices? Thanks!
I don't know for sure, but I would expect that they want to see the subject person kept within the picture frame from about waist (or a little higher) to top of the head; that you keep the subject in the fame when you are asked to look at something across the room; that the audio is crisp and clear; that the picture is not dramatically slanted (side-to-side tilt); that you can walk, talk and obtain all of those goals at the same time. So, walking through a house with the subject pointing out things and answering your questions sounds like it might fit the bill. Or, same scenario while walking through a store.

Edited to add: I don't know for sure because I have been doing video for much longer that VSN has existed, lol.
