Temporary Holiday Jobs

Hey, I know a lot of people don't read this section of the forum, but I thought I would post a question and see if I get much response. I have been doing some merchandising along with my mystery shopping. While I have mostly done assignments with Gigwalk and Field Agent, I had a few temporary assignments and part time work I picked up through Craigslist or other employment sites. I am signed up with a couple of merchandising companies, but they mostly want someone full time or close to it. I have one company that calls me relentlessly for full time work in my town or resets in nearby cities. My schedule just doesn't allow for this, and I am mainly looking for part time fill in work with some flexible scheduling, if possible, or temporary jobs. Are there companies that primarily do this kind of work? I imagine that with the holidays coming up, there will be temporary assignments for special displays or seasonal promotions, etc. I am already signed up with Castforce, but haven't seen much come my way. Any leads would be appreciated!

Try Randa. I don't work with them but always see the same Randa rep in all my stores that we have become friends. She has had winter help for the last two seasons. I would also try Hallmark.

Lots of retail stores in our area have signs posted for seasonal help.

I've done that at a certain chain that has 20+ stores in the Midwest. Unfortunately, it means I can never MS them. But otherwise, it will be fine as temp work.

There was a tempting merchandising listing that I saw online, but they wanted near full time within a 60-mile radius. That was not going to work with the rest of my commitments.
Try the Pet firm (TPFS). A bunch of companies that have pet related products funnel all their work with this company. The way it works is you are assigned a number of stores and once a month you visit the store and do a number of projects. I have 7 stores and usually make about $250 - $300 over the 2-3 days it takes to complete the projects. They pay generously and give mileage, admin time, pay for trainings and office supplies. The work is usually pretty easy and goes quicker since most stores have the same projects. All the work is done thru your phone or tablet via their app. They also are starting promotional/demo work in Whole Foods if you are interested in that kind of thing.

Thanks for the replies! I will keep my eyes open. Last year i picked up a few small jobs that paid by the job (not by the hour) and took me less time than anticipated and I made out pretty decently. I really go for jobs where I have the freedom to schedule around my other commitments and don't take a ton of time for each visit. Flexibility is key for my situation, so I will keep looking. Not much of a demo/ambassador type person. Those are always available around here, but I haven't been moved by the pay rate. Also, it isn't the kind of job I can do faster for a higher rate. I can just see me yelling at people, "EAT FASTER!"

Randa is a great holiday job, but it is also a big commitment because you agree to a certain number of hours per week and they schedule you at different stores accordingly. No matter how fast you work, you will be there a set number of hours. There is plenty to do to keep you busy the whole time! But if you like merchandising, you will probably love it. The tie tables feel like works of art smiling smiley.

I worked for Spar two years ago. In my area, they stock DVDs in a couple of grocery stores and do merchandising at Toys R Us and CVS. They aren't too difficult to find and they are definitely a part time position.
I had do the part time work in my holidays, because i think that is a interesting thing. What's more, that can let me learn more and more different experience for my future.
I have recently come across Lawrence Merchandising. Maybe not so much with temporary holiday, but it looks like they have a number of small projects in my area. They expect me to cover a 15 mile radius around my address, but that doesn't cover much, so maybe this will be the filler I was looking for. Anyone have experience with them?

@sandykmac, I have signed up for emails from Spar, but haven't gotten anything lately. I am almost rural here, but we have enough retail that I would think there would be something. Maybe they have enough workers in my area already.

Here is one more company who provides Mystery Shopping all over the Europe - Scheduling Worldwide.
They have plenty of visits so you can choose the one or two you like.
@serzhbabich Wrong thread for your comment. You are asking about this company on another thread. Seems llke you are just promoting your own site. Reported to Mod.

Honestly, most companies seem to be getting away from fill in type work and want to assign reps a store or territory.
The best place to search for merchandising work is on indeed.com - just put in merchandising and your zip code sign up for alerts and you will get a daily listing smiling smiley
I saw the Randa rep yesterday. She has 2 assistants this year. (And yes - her tie table was a work of art. She smiled when I mentioned CM's comment.)

I really miss working for them this year! They asked me to come back, but I would have had to cut back on my permanent job to work for them temp. I keep hoping they will add another permanent position in my area. They still operate like the "good ol' days" - realistic number of hours to complete your work, mileage if you travel over 10 miles, managers who take you to lunch when you work together.
