What Are YOU/WE Doing? Lifes to short people!!!!!

Hey there fellow Merch's, Thanks for taking the time to read this. I am as frustrated as hell today with one of the more well known merchandising companies out there, as far as I know anyway. A&A . What I take away from today is that you, me, WE, are letting those labour pimps get the better of us. Do you realize that most of us are working for $6-$7/ HR. on most jobs. Not all jobs, but most, if you stop to figure out all your costs vs what's earned ???. I for one have and decided not to accept anything that does not pay a flat rate / hr. wage. You, me, WE, have to stop accepting these pay nothing jobs. You, me, WE, deserve fair and appropriate compensation for all that we do. I wonder how many managers would do as much as we do for as little as we do sometimes. I have and still work for a couple merch. companies that value and respect those that are doing the actual work for them. They pay fairly and on time, as promised. They return e-mails and phone calls, and even support you when an issue arises that is obviously out of your control. I really do not have a lot of good things to say about A&A at the moment. Once again my reference is to the company, but we all know that it's the people within that company that make or break it. My situation is no different. Thanks.

James, sorry to hear about your difficulties with A&A. I'm not familiar with them. I am pretty part time with the merchandising work, but I have a limit for what I will accept jobs. I actually prefer to do the jobs that pay by the job, rather than by the hour. For the small projects I have done, I have come out ahead that way, so far. I just signed on with a new company that has small jobs in my area. They were offering less than my preferred rate, so I just asked for it. She said that in certain markets, they will consider higher rates. Luckily I don't live near a large metro area, so there aren't as many merchandisers to go around in my town.

Could I have a receipt please?
I'm not familiar with A&A either but always work for an hourly rate at least double what you quoted. The only job I do for a flat rate is Keurig and I get a far better deal with the $300+ kit of coffee, brewer, creamers, sugars, cups, display table, table cloths and accessories than the actual pay.

I work for several companies and can spend the day in one store or 2-3 mall stores, limiting my driving. But several merchandising companies pay mileage, admin time, printing expenses, report input time and even office supplies.

I suggest dropping A&A and picking up another company that is more in line with your goals, values your work and is pays favorably for your efforts.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just forget to load the film.
I have no idea who A&A is and have been merchandising for over 10 years. Maybe they are a regional company?
If you have been merchandising for any decent amount of time you can easily negotiate your starting rate before signing on.
I miss one of my favorite flat rate visits that took me maybe 15 minutes tops and paid $14. It was also in the same shopping center as another store I serviced - easy money smiling smiley Not all flat rate jobs are created equal.
