Schedule c for business code

Can someone tell me what business code is used for this type of work on my schedule C.

Well, that is the "million dollar question" of the day. There is no real good code. Most mystery shoppers and merchandisers use one of the below:

541910 - Product and Service Evaluation
541910 - Market Research & Public Opinion Polling
541990 - All other professional, scientific, & technical services
561600 - Investigation & security services
999999 - Other/Unclassified

Any of these seem to work, and I don't know of anyone, nor have I read of anyone on any of the forums getting in trouble for using any of the above.

My personal favorite is the 541910. I figure I am evaluating service more than I am actually doing market research or public opinion polling. I figure the MSPs that hire me are doing that.

My understanding is that the codes are to determine what kinds of expenses are most appropriate for your kind of business. Running a day care center, for example, would have different kinds of costs than mystery shopping.
