Shop invalidated due to barbecue!

I completed a FF shop for one of the big MSCs. I had to do the drive thru and dine in, special order. I ordered the chicken sandwich at the drive thru and asked for a packet of barbecue sauce. The shop was invalidated because I ordered an "extra item"??? I always thought barbecue sauce was a condiment.

The instructions are pretty clear not to add anything, and if you asked while ordering, it was probably printed on the receipt. Possibly in a way they couldn't discern if you added it to the sandwich or not. In the future, wait until you have the receipt and the food then ask for a pack of bbq.
As insignificant as it may seem to us, the extra item could possibly influence the timing. I don't work there, so I really don't know and that's why I follow the guidelines to the letter.

I had a "special order" tartar sauce removed. (I happen to like it) so after I got my sandwich, a nice employee asked me if I needed anything? I said I wished I had some mayonnaise....she brought me somesmiling smiley

I agree if I had it put on the sandwich. One of the questions asked is, "Did you receive all requested condiments?" I was just testing them to see if they would give me the requested condiments. LOL After 10 years of shopping, I still have boo boos.

Don't the packets of barbecue sauce, which usually come with a different meal, cost money?

Yes, I was not aware of that charge when I asked for it. I checked and there was a charge of 30 cents. Thats why I said I made a boo boo. I will remember and not do it again! The reason for the barbecue sauce was that I had asked my husband if he wanted anything. He said, "chicken nuggets" with barbecue sauce. Since this was a special order shop, I could not order chicken nuggets so I asked for the chicken sandwich with the barbecue sauce he wanted.

Actually, those pillow packs of condiments are relatively expensive. At a bookstore café where I was the café manager, we had the individual packs of mustard. For the cost of 500 packs of mustard, I could have purchased mustard in squeeze bottles that would have been the equivalent of 1500 of the individual packs. Corporate didn't want the large bottles though.

I would think you can carry little mustard. ketchup or mayo packs in your purse, in a little baggie, for those days where they want a dry special order...smiling smiley
I order the requirements and then, after receiving my receipt, I ask for whatever I need. smiling smiley
Yeah....that charge was the killer. Asking for ketchup or mustard wouldn't have been a problem, just the fact that the charge was added did it. Falls under the "sadder but wiser" category!

You're right. I found that out when I wanted to buy some for camping trips. I never did buy them. sad smiley

Most people just swipe a handful at the restaurant. Or save them up from times they requested them and got too much.

I recently ordered at a McD's for a friend who was in the car recovering from a minor surgery and couldn't come in with me. I wasn't sure if she used ketchup so I asked for some for her fries. They gave me about six packets of the stuff. Which are now in the trash can in my car, unused because it turned out she didn't use it.

At Arby's or Taco Bell, I specify "one Arby's sauce" or "one Mild Sauce" because otherwise they give a handful. I usually keep a couple in the car in case I forget to ask.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
It seems like I either get the employee who gives me 10 ketchup packets or only 1 packet. There's never a happy medium smiling smiley
Keeping some extra in the car is a great idea but not so great when it is hot outside. Nothing like fermented ketchup...yuck!!!!

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
They usually charge for extra sauces. I asked for extra tarter sauce once (not on a shop). I believe I was charged 75 cents for teh scant extra drop. Then I got heartburn from the filet o fish...

Wish I had known that before I asked for barbecue sauce!

I made the mistake once of getting mustard on a burger, then read the guidelines and read that particular burger only came with ketchup and mayo. I decided instead of submitting it and having the timing messed us to redo the shop at a later time. Funny thing is, the timings of both burgers was about the same, and took longer than they were "supposed" to get there by far and both were double burgers missing a patty.

Are you sure your heartburn was not from 75C for a packet of tartar sauce? That would have given me more than heart burn.
Most I ever got was 35 ketchup packets in the drive through. Friend's kid would only eat ketchup at the time and some fries. I jokingly asked for 35 packets and the McD employee gave them to me in a bag.
