Receipts that have an incorrect time-stamp - Any advice?

So time really does go slower in the Deep South....

In the future, when you notice the time stamp doesn't match, you can use the GeoVerify app immediately after, and get a code. The code contains GPS information plus time/date stamp. Save those and offer them up if questioned, or do a preemptive strike and include them in your reports along with your incorrect time-stamped receipt. That way, if you say you were there at 2:45-2:58, but your receipt shows 3:12 or whatever... you can prove the receipt wrong.

You can also email the scheduler. I have had this happen a couple of times and I emailed the scheduler and informed him/her about the time discrepancy. I didn't have any problems getting my report accepted.
This happened to me only once I believe, but I didn't notice until I got home. The time on their register receipt was behind by 10 minutes. I added a note in the comments that I noticed the receipt time was wrong. It seemed like that was enough for them, I didn't get any comments back about it.
I state that the receipt was incorrect and that I use the time on my cell phone which is set based on Verizon's towers.

Pulling a Geoverify code is good; it's generally accurate for the time of day even if not always perfectly precise for location. But you would need to think of it either before you go in or immediately after you leave in order to prove anything about the receipt time being wrong. Five minutes later won't do it.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I do the same...have a shop today, infact, that their time is ALWAYS off. I think they just don't know how to set the time because it's not even close to the real time grinning smiley. I put a note in the report that my reported times are correct and that the time on the receipt is wrong, geoverify, and time-stamp my required photo. There is only so much you can do and if the MSC is going to make an issue of it, send someone in to shop again or put it in the report to the customer and they can get it fixed.
Most of the receipts have the time off. I mention this to the MSC and so far, so good. smiling smiley
I email the scheduler if there is no place to add a note in the report. Because some cash skimming frauds rely on resetting receipt times, the information can be very valuable to the client. Although the ones that are a few minutes off are not particularly suspicious, you can often avoid a follow-up question from an editor by stating that your phone or watch were coordinated by cell tower or radio time during the trip.

I did a Ross shop recently, and the receipt was a minute behind my cell phone. There's a place to mention it in the comments for that shop. That was last Saturday, and I haven't heard anything back from them, so I assume all is well. It seems inaccurate time stamps on receipts are pretty common. That must be why some shop guidelines specifically say not rely on the time stamp on your receipt. tongue sticking out smiley

Eight years later, never once a comment on the discrepancy of a time stamp on the receipt.
If my receipt time is off I include a note in report or an email to scheduler never had a problem.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
I have done two things when this happens:

1. Make it very clear in the report that the time on the receipt is wrong.

2. Tell them that the clock in my vehicle is GPS enabled and always displays the correct time.

So far that has been sufficient.
I have never been questioned when it comes to small disparities. However, I did have one (in the middle of a route all for the same MSC no less) that was off by several hours. I noticed right away so I decided to use my GeoVerify app even though this MSC didn't have a spot for it to be entered. I figured worse case scenario is I could use it to back up my claim later, if needed. They never questioned it. However, now I ALWAYS GeoVerify my location when I reach my address.
I report it in a narrative field. If none apply, I hijack another one. I will also explain/confirm a difference in the cashier's name/tag/gender vs the name on the receipt. I've never had one sent back or questioned.

I do exactly this. Since 2008, I have never gotten a question from any MSC on receipt differences when I identify the discrepancy in the report. There are usually numerous one hour discrepancies around daylight savings changes. My worst was a fast casual for Market Force where the receipt said Monday 10:04AM...........but it was Thursday 5:04PM. I mentioned it in the report and no questions were asked.
