I saw a couple pictures up on the wall at my local PJs last year.... one of them was my picture.

They said "Good Pizza" "Bad Pizza"

The "Bad Pizza" one was mine. I recognized the sliver of my kitchen table around the edge of the pizza box, and recognized my handwriting on the Photo ID card.

So... they do make a difference, apparently. I haven't had to take any more "bad pizza" photos.

No, because they got feedback and haven't given me any more flat, burnt pizzas.

I have done more than my share of Papa John's shops. It is not easy getting the acceptable photos, and a cold pizza is not worth it: I don't really even like Papa John's.
I'm not crazy about PJ's pizza either but when they get to where they bonus for $15/20 plus reimbursement I take them. So far I haven't had a problem with the pics. And I put a piece of alum. foil in a skillet and reheat the pizza.
I do these shops for the bonus pay, not for the subpar pizza. I guess I don't understand why so many folks have trouble with the photos. I use my smartphone, taking a half dozen shots of each required pic, and I've never had an issue.
Make sure your piks are perfect or the shop will be rejected. All of the numbers have to be visible in each picture and you have to stand over the pizza to take the piks. I put the pizza on the table because I did not want to put my dinner on the floor (that was before I tasted the pizza) to take the pictures and the shop was rejected. This was my only rejected shop in 3 years of shopping. Lesson learned - I do not shop PJ's anymore because I made the mistake of actually trying to eat the pizza and it is horrible!
This shop is the only shop I have ever done that really really really annoys me. I've found myself infuriated a few times and swear I will never do another. Then, they call me and I give in but after the last experience with them, I will NEVER do another. They can keep the $12 pizza. My favorite is when they offer a $2 bonus and when I indicate that is not enough for all the pictures, they make sure they point out that there is a free pie involved too...just incase I did not know.
and the pictures are ridiculous. they rejected my last one because of the pics and i'm mad as heck about it.
There are a lot of threads on Pappy's pizza quality and pic requirements. No one likes doing these shops and the Botox Business Owner and his band of idiots apparently don't realize these shops are done over and over by the same people. Life is too short to eat that crap!
they'll eventually run out of suckers to do them. i hope. in 3 years of doing this, it's the 1st time i ever got ripped off by a company. and that's exactly what they do.
I stopped doing them, and then they switched to the flip - don't cut and that was reasonable. Now the MSC in my area has changed and they have both "just flip" and "cut and stand up" depending upon the shop. I was enticed by significant bonuses to do 3 of the "cut and stand up shops" on 3 successive days. I really disliked them. So this month the sceduler calls and wants to assign me to the same ones. I say, yes for the same bonus. He replies that there is no bonus available, and I told him that I don't work for free. He told me that I get to eat the pizza. I declined. Now they are being offered with a bonus, but only for delivery and I am not in the delivery area of any of the three stores (I live in the center of a triangle with one store at each of the corners).

I don't even bother with any of the shops that require pics and a certain type of pizza for not much $$, someone else can do them and that is fine with me.
There are two locations in this shop convenient to my house-one that will deliver and one I don't mind picking up from. Based on the number of calls I get from the MSC there mustn't be anyone else in my area willing to do them.

However, I noticed in the last round of emails I got they've lowered the bonus to $2 (the other ones have been for $5 or even $7). At that price I'll have no trouble turning them down.

I have done two of these and refuse to do any more. Pain and not worth the money + I don't like the pizza!!
With all this bad mouthing of PJ pizza, I decided to try it again for the first time in perhaps 10 years. I wanted to see if it's just due to the fact that the shop requires that you order a plain cheese pizza and then it's cold by the time you eat it. The shop has never been available for my zip code. Someone near me is willing to take it every time as soon as they are posted.

I found a working 40% off code (PJ40) on a saving site that worked for my location, so the total cost was $7.70

40% Off Any Large Pizza At Regular Menu Price
Large Original Crust The Works Pizza
Green Peppers, Onions, Mushrooms, Sausage, Canadian Bacon, Parmesan/Romano Cheese, Three Cheese Blend, Pepperoni
Instructions: Well Done

Well, I can't give them the benefit of the doubt. Even ordering the extra cheese types and a good assortment of toppings could not make it enjoyable.

The pizza was so greasy that the grease stain made it through the bottom of the box and onto the table!
The crust was absolutly tasteless and they put so much of that corn syrup flavored tomato paste on the crust that the toppings just slid right off the top of the pizza in a small pile in the box when I picked up the first slice.

There is no hope for this company. It has nothing to do with the toppings or not ordering extra cheeses, it's just a poor product all the way around. After I choked down 3 slices, I gave the rest of the pie to the kid next door who demolished it. There is a market for super low end pizza as my neighbors kid demonstrated to me.

You, my friend, just summed it up perfectly!

PS
Haha! After reading about the company's owner and his "plastic surgery look,", I can't help but think, if that indeed is true, that no wonder the shop is primarily focused on how the pizza looked).

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
I used to do these when our son would come home to visit. He likes the pizza. I can't stand it. I have never had a problem with the pics and my reports were always accepted. They call me every month and I keep declining. The last time they called, I asked for a bonus and was told no such bonus was available. I'm hoping they will find someone else to do these shops so they quit calling me.

Have to agree Papa Johns is a horrible company. Seeing how bad they treat mystery shoppers, I would hate to know bad they treat franchise owners and employees. Although my Papa Johns shop was accepted and had a high score, I personally will never support this company again as a consumer. Papa Johns is clearly a company that does not care about anything but $$

I WILL NEVER TOUCH THESE AGAIN WITH A TEN FOOT POLE.

A razor blade to mutilate the pizza I don't even like? No thank you. I have never had photos rejected before or since my PJ's experience...only with them. That papa is a picky b@stard.
it's also the only time i've had photos rejected. and i use an iphone 5s for photos they sad it was poor picture quality. i think it's how they sell pizza. by refusing to pay for shops.
Glad I read this, I will stay away from PJ shops. We have another pizza place around here that gets shopped that is supposed to have good pizza I will have to look for them. When we need pizza here for my sisters kids we get Marco's square meal pizza. They have a good crust.
I did a bunch of them early on for $25 fee plus reimbursement. I don't consider a free pizza from them to be payment of any kind. In fact, I consider it work to eat that pizza and expect payment for it.
I've only seen them as a "free pizza" lately. That's as attractive to me as "free dog doo"
yup. no fee. they pay for the pizza but not the tip for the delivery driver. then, by the time you get through all the crazy picky photos, the pizza is cold. then, if they don't like the pics, you get notified 3 days later that the shop was "cancelled". i was told it was the quality of the photos. after 3 years of never being told that and i do about 80 shops monthly-many with pics. i really think they do it for the pizza sales.

Shareholders don't care where the sales come from! Botox Juan is an embarrassment. Much better pizza is shopped and appreciated. The Delete feature is a wonderful thing when offered a PJ shop on e-mail. Do yourselves a favor and use it!
