Best Buy Audit and ATT Revealed Audits Question

I have done $15 AT&T audits. Sometimes the price goes up. The first time I did it, it took me about 45 minutes. Now it takes me 25 to 30 minutes. Now that I know what to look for, I do it in the order the store is layout, rather than the order of the response sheet. I check things off as I do them, and at the end double check everything. There are some questions which must be answered by store personnel and they are all very cooperative.

I haven't see a Best Buy audit recently. I have a recollection from a few years ago that was so long that you had to commit to spending 2 consecurive days there and you were not permitted to do it all in a single day. It might have been doable in 12 hours. At $95 for 12 hours, that about $8 per hour less the cost of driving there, etc.

I think that the Best Buy audits are very time consuming but I have not done one myself.
AT&T audit is time consuming the first time, but much easier after you learn what's needed. I was very hesitant about accepting a second shop, but now I would do them in a heart beat.
I just finished 5 Att audits between 17.00 and 25.00 as long as you get good pictures that show required website in photo they are easy. Att personnel very helpful.
I saw the cell phone audits on one of my MSC's paying $28. I have been debating if it's worth it.
If it is AT&T and the distance is reasonable, take it. The first one will take maybe 45 minutes. The second one will take 30 minutes. I haven't gotten below 25 minutes, but I think 20 minutes is possible as long as the requirements don't change. For the ones I did, you need to be able to use a browser on Apple, Android, and Windows cell phones. The employees will gladly help you. I use Windows cell phones so infrequently that I tend to forget from one batch to another if I skip a month.

No. The AT&T and Verizon audits are very different.

Feeling very frustrated...

When I saw the Best Buy audit show up on the boards I emailed the scheduler and explained I had no audit experience, but was willing to learn. Told that wasn't a problem. Paid for my own drug test/background check (but was told that if I performed two audits for them I'd be reimbursed).

The date of the audit kept getting pushed back, but was finally scheduled for this upcoming week, When I took a look at the instructions I realized I was probably in over my head, and have spend several days getting stressed out about the job every time I thought about it.

As part of the requirements I had to take a test and pass with 100%. I have taken MANY tests with no problem, but this one I managed to permanently fail after the allowed three tries! I'm mentally writing the cost of the mandatory testing off, figuring it's better for my mental health.

KathyG: If this is the same Best Buy audit I did once (and ONLY once), consider that test failure a serendipitous intervention of the universe on your behalf. As I recall, I think I ended up making about $6 an hour or less, between the prep time, time onsite, and time for the report entry. Even at 8 hours total for $95, I respectfully disagree with BillBryan, that is NOT a good day's work.
KathyG, on their tests, you can hit the button to the left,
and it will show you which questions you got wrong before
submitting the 2nd and 3rd time...

Depends on which Best Buy shop we are talking here.. I've done a few and they are all different. :/

I figured that out after it was too late. Will remember for next time, though

Chigirl777, that's what I figured, too. Everything happens for a reason!

wait the att phone audits take 30 minutes?! really?! I get in, take the pictures, have the report signed and am out in 8 minutes at most. The only time it takes long is if I am having to wait for a rep to be done with a customer. My way around waiting is to have the clipboard with the audit authorization sheet facing out toward the store and not toward my body. I casually walk the store with my arms crossed but the sheet plainly visible. You would be surprised how many employees know that form and ask how they can help me. Often the manager comes up to me and asks how they can make my job easier. The last thing many of these managers want is me poking around, listening to the customer service of the employees, or anything else they can fathom I must be doing. They want me in and out and are grateful when I am quick and efficient.

Gypsy - I find it hard to believe that you can take all of the required photos including accessing the required websites on the phones and tablets and get out in 8 minutes. I am closer to 20 minutes if all goes well, and I think that is fine. You are spending less than 1 minute per required photo, including set-up time and the time it takes for the employees to answer your questions. The store I visit are rarely crowded (the Corporate stores are another matter, but these audits do not apply to them), and the emploiyees like to talk. And if they ARE with a customer, you are not allowed to interrupt to ask the questions or get the signature.

Unless you have a store with customers blocking shots it doesn't take more than a few seconds for a photograph. On other audits I don't interrupt for a signature, but find if I'm standing there with the paperwork many employees will just take it, sign and hand it back while continuing to talk to the customer.

I love the cell phone store audits - I've only done one, which took an hour, but if they come back up in this area -- I know I can get them done in 15-20 minutes, now that I know whats required. I was also working that cell store on paper, which slowed me down.

The blue audits take me an average of 5 hours. The first one was closer to 8, but with time you get used to them.

Loading a website is not time consuming. You click the icon, type in the web address, snap picture move onto the next phone/ tablet. I run in NY sped. I always have and even when I slow down, I am still going fast. I am efficient and, from my last job, I streamline everything I do. Further, as I already stated, when an employee sees my sheet they are quick to assist me. I do not interrupt but I also do not hide the audit form or wave it about. Making eye contact with an employee who is suppose to be looking around a store anyway ensures that you are not a wall flower for 30 minutes. I come from sales retail and I know how to make eye contact, smile and ensure my form is seen without interrupting the associates.

I don't understand. You figure out, before you go, which departments need your attention. You then go to that department and (a) push buttons for the functionality tests, (b) scan/telxon random full pegs and all empty pegs thus completing the down stock, add check and price check, (c) take pictures of trip hazards, dust/dirt, things that make you go hunh, and mistakes with your phones camera (d) go retrieve printed down stock report from printer (e) go to next department and repeat steps a, b, c and d until all departments are completed (f) email yourself the pictures so you can upload them from tablet (g) input data onto tablet and insert pictures where needed (h) check entire audit form for mistakes (i) fix mistakes, get signatures and anything else that is needed. (j) triple check report before leaving.
7 hours for my last audit and it will be faster on my next since I know what I am doing.
If you are going back to the department for each section it will take forever and a day. If you figure out what is needed and know your equipment, you can complete the audit quickly, efficiently and without errors. It need not take your entire day unless you want it to.

Would you need internet cellular data to use your tablet for the audit or WIFI is all that one would need?
It was well written though - agreed on pretty much everything.

I did my first BB audit today and was seriously just about in tears because I didn't think I was going to finish! It was definitely a learning experience and I know what I need to do better/more efficiently next time. Thank you for the great advice purpleicee - that makes so much more sense to go by department! The time that will save - OMG!!
