NARS Artist

Hi again,
just wondering if someone did the NARS artist shop? Any tips how not to look/sound wierd calling the mall and asking for specific person working at the cosmetic department?

This is always a challenge. I will ALWAYS deflect my voice to make it sound lower or higher and give a completely different name for myself. If they say they are there today from noon till 8, and tomorrow 2 till close, I will ask for the next 2 days or the weekend. Then I will tell them a broad statement like great! I am going to try to head over today on my lunch break or this weekend when I am at the mall. I tried how they call it out in the shop, and the changing names definitely helped. I think i told them on the phone my name was amber, so then when i showed up at the mall the lady was like oh are you amber, i give her a very puzzled look saying ummm no.

What about specific person? What if she is not available? Should I play "got an emergency" scenario?
I have been fortunate that I just ask for the person and the other associate will tell me what they are scheduled for. One location shares a phone with another cosmetic line and they will just read me off the schedule for the week. Then i tell them that i will be stopping in on a different day to see them. If they aren't there, then you can play the scenario that the targeted artist is your NARS contact you have been working with and want to stick with. That is not uncommon at all, especially for that caliber of a brand.

I was thinking to stop by today get the card, pretending not having time, and call them later for already specific person...
Maybe I had a different shop, but I was required to attempt to set an appointment with the targeted artist. It didn't feel weird at all because I just said I had a really busy schedule and wanted to be sure there wouldn't be a long wait.
I wouldn't go and do that scenario oliverus2000. I would do the call ahead thing.

Tracyvp, I know some states require appointments, others don't. My state doesn't require appointments.

I would say that I was in the store and talked to a really great associate but that day I did not have time for an appointment. I would then ask when that specific associate was working because I really liked her or him - simple. I would give a fake name also.
It is normal to ask for a specific artist. You cane play the role that you have been working with her for a while and so you want to know when she is in. They are commission based employees anyways.

Glad to help. Just remember to watch the reimbursement - Nars has some really good cosmetics but they are pricey.
I've done several of these shops.

One thing you can do is call and say that your co-worker, friend, sister, etc just had her makeup done there by a NARS artist and you liked it so much that you want to do it as well. Can you tell me who that is so I can look for him/her or make an appointment?

I find these shops fairly fun and easy and I almost always learn something new.

Hope this helps.

Heather
